So... today's my last day of my first semester of college.
My last final exam was this morning at 8am. The busiest 2 weeks of my life drawing to a close, all I have to do is get up and show up to an exam with my calculator and formula sheet. The snooze button on my alarm clock failed me today. 9:04am I open my eyes and see the time. In a mad rush I throw on the minimum amount of clothing that society deems acceptable, and my jacket. Putting my coat on upside down something falls out of one of the pockets, I grab it and procede to sprint the entire length to my exam (not that far). I must have been out of my dorm within 6 seconds of getting up this morning. Under any other set circumstances, I would be able to look at that accomplishment with enormous pride. But I was an hour late for... probably the biggest exam of my college life so far (calc-physics final). And I later realized I wasn't wearing any socks (would have taken at least another 8 seconds).
Seeing my extreme exhaustion and look of utter despair upon my unbelievably un-glorious entrance, the professor told me to take a seat and calm down, breathe deeply ect. and opted not to give me the well deserved "thou shalt not be tardy to my 'holier than thou' final exam" lecture. We're allowed to bring a 1/2 piece of paper to the exam to use for formulas. I managed to grab something that looked remotely like physics, it had 1 (out of 12) chapters worth of formulas on it. Oh well I think, at least I have a lot more formulas on my graphic calculator. And then I pull out my calculator which I knew I had because I remembered it fell out of my pocket earlier and I picked it up. I must have dropped my calculator 100's of times over the years, but this time appearantly TI-86 had had enough. The screen was completely destroyed, my $100 calculator, my very good friend for over 3 years now, was rendered useless, although a very pretty pattern was settling on the screen. Calculator, and mind were now both blank. After a moment of utter shock I started in on the test, leaving all the calculations until the first person left and I barrowed his calculator. Almost 12:00pm I finished the exam, I think it went alright, I'll find out in a few days.
So I'm going home tomarrow morning. I probably could have emailed my professor the last paper I have to turn in, but given my luck for today, I want to make SURE he get's it (20% of my final grade for that class, it's 9 pages typed single-spaced, not including references, or 7 appendices). I've spent more than 30 hours on it in the past 2 weeks, I'm not taking any chances. It's my pride and joy, one of the only pieces of work I've written that I've ever been satisfied with. I downloaded 3 alarm clock programs tonite (in addition to the alarm clock that betrayed me this morning) to make sure I'm awake WELL BEFORE the 9am deadline. There's no way I'm sleeping through this. My paper is safely saved (don't have a printer in my room, and the labs are closed) on the schools network student account (the M: drive). It's ALL DONE. So about 30 minutes ago, I went to move some music from my desktop to my laptop (so I can listen to it on the 3.5 hour drive home tomarrow), so I decided to do it through the M: drive (since I didn't have a local network set up in my room). Appearantly 130MB of traffic is too much. Now all I get from M is: "M:\ is not accessible. Access is denied".
I have less than 8 hours to find this paper. If anyone sees it, please email me.
