Worst A64 CPU ever????

I'd have to take off my heatsink to see what week mine was made, maybe there was just one bad week (not 51).

We have eliminated all other variables with OUR CPUs. Still don't know if this is a big problem or just bad luck for several people recently.

I wonder if some of these could be early strained silicon parts that they experimented with but hadn't perfected yet.

Why not? What would prevent them from beginning to use Strained Silicon on a chip that's already working very well to work some kinds out before it goes into production?

I have OCZ PC4000 gold rev 2 at 2.8v, and it won;t run at anything over 255 ! (2395) divider or not (stable that is, no F@H early unit ends) And I have an Antec true 380 PSU, and an IDE drive, and a 9600pro radeon (fanless). Believe me, 2300 is the limit for many 3000+. My 3200 wont go over 200, but I think thats due to the motherboard for that combo.

Just a random shot in the dark, but have you tried a better PSU with that overclock Mark?
I looked at the stats of an Antec True380 and it only has +12V@18A, which may not be enough to support high A64 overclocks. It may be enough, but I think that's cutting it rather close.

Yah, that's not enough power at all. Go for an Enermax with the dual 12v rails, plenty of power. My system would barely run at stock on a 350watt antec with 16A on the 12v rail, I dont see how you could get a good stable overclock with only 30 more watts and 2 more amps.

A TruePower380 should be fine... it's an Athlon-64 and a 9600 Pro... definately NOT power hungry components. Now if he was using a 6800 or x800 or had a Prescott, then yeah... a new power supply would be in order... but what he has isn't very power hungry.
