Worse/Best Music era

For me the best was the 70s, and there's also something nostalgic about the new wave and synth-pop of the 80s. I'm never gonna give that up in full ;-)

The worst decade in music was the 90s. I can't believe that people actually liked all the nonsensical drivel that came from Mariah Carey, Oasis and Boyz II Men. There were many shitty things about the 90s, and the music ain't no exception at all.

Depends on your age. For any generation the best music is whatever was made when they were 15-25 years old. And for anyone over age 25 the worst music era is RIGHT NOW.

Nah. I was born in 1973 and the 90's were definitely the worst time for music, especially 91-98 when grunge, rap and country pop were all that anyone played. God it was awful. Rock was reborn in the late 90's and has made a bit of a comeback. Music now is better than it has been since the 80's.

Hmm I really liked the 90's. Of course I really liked the Alternative/Punk type stuff like Green Day, Offspring, and others. All the R&B and Pop stuff wasn't really my stuff.

For sure the best years of music have been the last 100 years ... blues, jazz, rock, metal ... all came into being

Nirvana came out of the 90s. And Foo Fighters is one of my favorite bands.

A few more good 90s bands off the top of my head.

No Doubt was a pretty good 90s group.
Pearl Jam
Nine Inch Nails
Tool
System of a Down
Red Hot Chili Peppers

Rock is dead. Music of today, for the most part, blows...

Worst music era - 1910s. Defintiely 1910's.
I can agree with this, and I have a good bit of music from the 10s. Otherwise, I'm not comfortable saying certain decades sucked. Most had some gems, even in an otherwise bleak soundscape. As a whole, I'm not fond of the 70s-80s. I'm not that familiar with 90s+ popular music, but there's a lot of good unpopular music.

Since filesharing peaked it's been nothing but party-rockin', female-worship songs, and self-esteem-building anthems.
I've been forced to branch off into medieval/celtic stuff, but I have to weed out the boring or hokey and that eliminates a lot of what's out there. Then around 2013 I realized I was missing out on the One Republic, Lorde, The Neighborhood, Foster the People, Kongos, etc. so I collected some of that.

I didn't start buying music 'til the 90s so that's where my heart lies, I guess. No Classic Rock for me other than Pink Floyd and Def Leppard.

Was there any music after the 60's ?

Fuc I musta missed it.

Hold it.

Oh yeah,
The Black Crows,

Rod Stewart did infatuation with Beck,

and Notorious BIG had More Money with More Problems.

Finito.

Jump to today and there's R&B.
Sad eh ?

I'd say the worst is from around 1900 until 1950. There's been a lot of stuff worth listening to each decade since.

Sturgeon's Law: 90% of everything is crap.

People remember the 10% from their favorite eras and forget about the awful 90%.

I like some popular music from early last century up to the present. Louis Jordan to Venus Hum.

no way, that was still the era of ragtime, which is some of the best music ever written

even though most of his songs were written before 1910, scott joplin did write the magnetic rag and pine apple rag in that decade

that alone saves it from worst music era

Worst era is whatever was playing during the 1990's & 2000's.

Best era is a lot harder... I would say a toss-up between mid 1760's to 1790's symphonies and 1970's & 80's metal scene.
