I suggest visiting gay porn sites and when your parents find out and talk to you about it just tell them you knew they were spying on you and so you visited those sites to scare them. Then tell them that you are ashamed that they don't trust you.

This is a great idea, because:

A) You can make your parents feel guilty about not trusting you,

and

B) Nothing beats free gay porn, right?

Another good spy smashing program is called "spybot search and destroy". If you type it into google, it will bring you to their homepage. This program does pick up stuff that Adaware doesn't.

I'm pretty sure Watchdog is some sort of computer monitoring/nanny software so Ad-Aware and Spybot won't pick it up. Why don't you just ask them about it?

It's your computer right? How did your parents access it? Just remember your Administrator account password, login, and find the Watchdog program. Then delete it. And restrict system access.

Don't delete watchdog.sys is a microsoft system file. I believe it's related to WHQL. See the WFP file list here. I don't think it has anything to do with spyware at all.

sorry, screwed the link up but I fixed it.

oh i know

you could have a reasonable talk with your parents, tell them, SHOW them you arent doing anything they wouldnt approve of and try to gain their trust, instead of getting around something you assume is being done...because, if they dont think they can trust you, then you work around what they do -- they cant trust you

*crickets chirp*

yeah, that communicationg with your parents thing is probably stupid

oh i forgot

if youre doing unreasonably evil sh!t that would give them a GOOD reason to spy on you....stop doing it permanently, after a week of you not looking at pr0n and bomb making sites anymore, double clean everything for good measure and then see above post ;)

Yes, watch dog is a spyware, no worrys here just run adaware. And as for you thinking they are spying, I respect there reasons if this is really what is happending, but also beleive there should be privacy in your own computer (if it is yours). I think you should just tell them "Hey, I found that spy software you installed" and see what they say.. LOL

Here is what you do...

Install an anti-keylogger and see what you find. If you find something, install a keylogger to find out what THEY are up to.

And I'd demote them from administrator to user. ;)

Do a low level Format (0's to hard drive), reinstall everything, password everything including the BIOS and do not create user accounts for them. Remember, you are "tha man".

When they come to you and ask what's wrong with your computer, you just BUSTED them. Ask them what the hell are they doing on your computer? And if they want something from it, to ask you and you will handle it for them cause they are stupid newb parents. :)

Or here's a suggestion, you could be more of an adult than they are and just tell them you don't appreciate being spied on. Ask them why they did it and if they have a specific reason to distrust you (do they?).

Don't be a lamer and outspy the spies. Be an adult and ask them what their concern is, assure them that you are not selling/buying drugs or dealing kiddie porn or luring young girls to meet you so you can spirit them away. It's kinda fun being more adult than the adults. They get embarassed when they know they have been "out-adulted".

Um are you sure watchdog is spyware or a monitoring program? They're completely different type of software... adaware and spybot won't remove the program if it's a monitoring program, although i'm pretty sure i've seen programs to remove such software before.

Do you still have admin? If so, you should be able to remove it.

Why don't you login as the main administrator, and uninstall that crap? If they set a password on it, you should be able to crack the password with l0phtCrack no prob. After uninstalling, rename the administrator account to something completely different, and reset the password to something with several different characters (i.e. s7@y0u70fh3r3!!). If it's a network-based logger, use a firewall, block the port that it goes through so errors constantly appear when they attempt to view the file (If 2K use the Network Analyzer, or IP Network Utility in XP).

If you are running a Professional version of Windows, you can jump into the MMC and edit the Local Policies to where you, and only you can install anything. Removing the "Everyone" group helps a lot, and so does disabling the "Guest" account.

Since you didn't mention your Version Windows, I cannot tell you too much more to do. Next time lock it down with complex passwords so people can't jump into your system so easily.

I guess I'm getting old. 1. How old are you? 2. Did your parents buy the computer? 3. Do your parents pay for your Internet access? 4. Do you still live with your parents? I've got a while before I have to worry about this(daughter is only 8 months old), but you better believe that if the answer to 1. is "under 18", and any of questions 2-4 can be answered "yes", I'll be monitoring what she does. My parents probably would have done the same for me if they knew anything about computers and if I had any sort of online access.

There are two types of computer watchdogs. The spy kind you think this is, and the lockup-detector kind this appears to be. A software watchdog is supposed to be able to detect when the computer locks up and if it stays that way for an extended period of time (say 30s) it'll reboot the box, software watchdogs aren't as reliable as hardware ones because obviously certain kinds of lockups can stop their process too.

cappsa is right, if it's your parents computer you need to talk to them about it.

You dont like it but its there house. If you are not doing anything worng why worry. Your parents will see this and be happy.

or

Format the computer and make your parents worry and start a big fight.

Pick one.
