Worried about Hard Drive

I had this drive for about two years and I'm getting worried about it. It was super quiet and now it makes noise all the time. Specially when its installing items or accessing you hear the little rrrr rrr rrr you know...

I went to Seagates website downloaded some testing utility and everything was ok, except the following.
Result: Passed with inconsistencies

Some files and/or folders were found with inconsistent write or change
times. The write or change time in the index does not match the write or
change time stored in the file record. This is normal and not considered
a corruption.

Ran defrag but still doing it.

I going to contact Seagate but i thought ask if anyone else has suggestions?
I don't think the drive is under warranty any longer.

My important data is being backed to another drive and also to DVD's weekly.

Well, they noice problems are common to me aswell..

I had a Maxtor drive that started making strange sounds also. It went dead after 4 weeks or so, and left me 1 hd less.. "Never buying Maxtor again 🙂"

I would start saving some cash for a new drive, cause i think you drive dies soon. That noise is NOT healthy and im not trying to make you worried. Going from silent to noice is an indication that drive dont feel that well anymore.

Dependant on age, check if you can get it swapped for a new one due to the guarentee..

Eventually, you can do a "burn-in" test on the drive, allthough you must agree before doing so, the test might make yor drive fail and die. This will only happen if there´s a weakness or bad hardware.

Sandra do a nice burn-in test if im not wrong..

It is also normal for the drive to make sort of a "chattering" or "clicking" sound while it is reading and writing data. However, if the sound coming from your drive has recently changed or is an excessive grinding or clanking noise, this may indicate a physical problem with the drive.

They also have a link to verify if the drive has warranty, unfortunately that feature never works, the website can't connect at all.

Their system check worked today, the drive is out of warranty, damn.

Make sure you backup on a regularly base (like you should, even with a "healthy" drive 😉), and you shouldn't be worried... I have a Maxtor that's some 2 years old now, and every time I load into Windows, it gives me a "kling" sound... It has been that way for the last half year... Threw HDTach at it, and it performs still as new... I'm just taking enough backups...

"It was super quiet and now it makes noise all the time."

I pray for your drive. but honest, start saving.
It can happen from next boot...

Making noise all the time is NOT good no matter what any says...

Cheer up, atleast drives cheaper than ever, so get a new one and put backup back in..

Merry x-mas
