Worn mount?

Disengaging clutch quickly while accelerating in reverse results in a bang. Also, while cruising/coasting at 30-40mph in 3rd gear, giving even the tinest of gas will result in a slight jerk before acceleration starts.

What's the most likely candidate? Worn diff mount?

Car is a 2005 CTS 2.8L, 139k km.

Couldn't hurt to check the motor mounts. Either one, I'd imagine they would have to be pretty bad to be as jerky as you describe them.

That also leads me to it being something else though, because mounts don't just go bad over night. Did you notice the jerkiness before, and getting progressively worse?

I had the bang-out-of-reverse for a long time, but I never really felt any symptoms until now when driving normally.
