Worlds largest octopus...

I always imagined the world's largest octopus would be bigger......they probably need to go deeper 🙂

Sucks for the octopus. Kinda hard to strut your stuff as the world's biggest octopus to all the lady octopi when you are dead on an examining table.

They're relatively small compared to giant squid.

Now those are impressive.

Maybe that's what I was thinking of...

I am pretty sure Calamari is squid

That's one huge octopussy

<< Holy sh!t

200lb giant squid

Now there is an animal.

I Just watched a show on Discovery about some scientists searching for Architeuthis, and trying to keep the babies alive in captivitiy. It's amazing that the young one's they were catching were like an inch long and grow to massive lengths. They just can't keep the bastards alive in captivity... always die after a day or two.

On the same note I'm still open to believe there are some
Carcharodon Megalodon's out there too, boy would that be something. Think of a Great White 5 times as long and a mouth big enough to swallow a mini...

I wonder if it would make a good salad. Boil it, cut it up & add some garlic, parsley olive oil and potatoes.

Thinking about 50 foot giant squid dwelling in the deepest parts of the oceans scares the crap out of me 😛

Forget going to outer space......try catch one of those badasses.....

A giant squid has never been caught on film alive. Measurements from the sucker-marks left on Sperm Whales has indicated that the beasts may grow to lengths approaching 100ft long, and while most of that is from the two long tentacles, that is still quite impressive.

Megalodon's aren't very likely to exist anymore, though there may have been a few left as recently as 10,000 years ago. Human's would be their only enemy, with a pod of orca's also being a possibility, but man, they would do serious damage to the populations of smaller whales, seals, etc...imagine a schoolbus with a mouth at the front of it cruising around and you get the idea of a Megalodon...

I recall reading something about partial carcass from a giant octopus, much, much larger than the one discussed in this article. This thing was giant-squid sized, if not bigger, but the remain was so incomplete that it was never officially classified..let me see if I can find it...

I have to admit, I was a "mystery animal" junkie growing up, along with dinosaurs, sharks, etc.....
