Vehicle Tested:
2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LT2 4dr Crew Cab 4WD 5.8 ft. SB (5.3L 8cyl 4A)
MSRP of Test Vehicle: $41,494 Price It!!

What Works:
Very isolated and refined ride even with heavy-duty tow package, interior looks and feels better without sacrificing functionality, extremely quiet cabin, seats are comfortable for long drives, comprehensive list of safety equipment.

What Needs Work:
Four-speed transmission doesn't always take advantage of abundant power from 6.0-liter V8, offset seating position can be annoying to some drivers, hard armrests.

Bottom Line:
With its much improved interior, refined ride quality, strong engine and long list of available features, the Chevrolet Silverado is a full-size truck with few faults.

For prolly around $46K with tax and delivery that damn truck better do more for you then get you from point a to point b and haul stuff ;)
GM and Ford PLEASE bring back the days of the no frills trucks with crank windows, no cruise, or leather seating, ac was 55 and 2 windows down, and a realistic price.

Hell, you dont get much for $40,000 from Chevy, either. Cloth seats?

Poor GM - their biggest money makers (trucks/SUV) are falling out of fashion, and they have no quality, good selling cars to keep them afloat.

The Saturn Aura is light years ahead of any other GM mid-size sedan. Quite a good vehicle, I was VERY impressed.

Isn't GM looking into bringing Saturn closer into the corporate structure and force it's future cars to share the same basic platforms?

Which would completely defeat the purpose of the Saturn brand all together.

Also look at the number of Aura (L1) or ION (base) sold compared to Camry or Accord.

Yes, which is why the Aura is based on the Opel Vectra sedan from Europe. :)

The numbers may be small now, but consider that GM has a way to go to win back folks from the Japanese brands.

Who pays MSRP for anything GM other than for the Z06? 10-12k off American fullsize trucks are like the norm now.

# 367 hp, 375 lb-ft torque
# 10,500-pound tow capacity

Those are some impressive numbers. Would make a perfect work truck and weekend boat tower.

Hah, whats out of fashion?

Have you even checked what the #1 selling vehicle has been for the past 20+ years?

Ford manages to sell almost 1,000,000 of what you believe to be falling out of fashion...every single year.

Any guess what #2 on the list has been for the father back than I can remember? If you guessed the Silverado you win.

Want to take a shot at #3?

With it's flaws fixed? BWAHAHAHA!!! You know it's a bad sign when a review starts off with that.

BTW-A friend of mine just traded his 2005 GMC Sierra for a 2006 Toyota Tundra Double Cab. Man, there's no way I'd pick a Chevy over the Tundra. That is one sweet truck.

And light years behind the Japanese mid-size sedans.

Jesus...if you are going to spend 40 grand to tow, why not go with an F350/Ram 3500/HD version with a diesel?

And you would be in the minority. I would take the Chevy Silverado or the GMC Sierra anyday over the Toyota Tundra. Against the Nissan Titan it's a toss up.

Don't get me wrong. Tundra is a nice truck. I own '02 Tundra SR5 extended cab and am very pleased with it. But American fullsize trucks still rule and both Toyota and Nissan still has ways to go. Of course for small and midsize trucks, I would take the Tacoma and Frontier over any American offering.

BWAHAHAHA!!! Unless you actually have to use it for work. I agree the Toyota is a nice truck, but it's not a work truck. Most pickups are bought for working not hauling Japanese car fanboys.

Agreed. I think the new Silverado's look promising.
Tundra has a puny differential, tiny radiator and fan, and a flexy frame. Good for commuting, and pretty quick. But I would pick a different truck.

Don't mind Jules gang, the world in which he lives has a population of one, but he really likes everyone there.

Because then you're spending $50k.

Seriously, I have no idea how in the hell this is going to fly with a $40k sticker. I'll go to the Citifinancial repo sale and buy a 2002 3500 Duramax for $20k and miles before I even think about spending $40k on a HALF TON.

The hell they are. Most pickups are bought for the same reason most SUVs are bought for. To haul some dumbass with a small penis to his job sitting in front of a computer all day. Or to haul the kids to school and soccer practice.

I'd be willing to bet good money that fewer than half of all fullsize trucks sold today ever haul anything near their capability.

I seriously doubt I'm in the minority here. BTW-I've worked with American trucks for years. GM blows. Dodge blows. The only American truck I'd ever consider is a Ford and I think the F-150 is ugly as hell.

Then again, I don't need or want a fullsize truck. Just expressing my opinion. You don't have to like it but I am free to express it.
