Nice I'm going to pick one up. It'll be my last AGP card. It should keep me going for a while.

Haha the topic reminds me of something like "world's fastest moped" or something. 😉

Guess it's good for folks with expensive AGP systems that don't want to spend $$$ for motherboard, cpu and ram. :Q

if it's actually almost $500 in the US then i'd be better off getting a cheaper PCIe setup w/ a socket 939 mobo and be able to upgrade in the future. It might end up being a bit more expensive at first, but it would probably be worth it....

It does look cool tho. If it was closer to $350 then it would be very tempting.

I thought I heard something about these being limited edition. I.E. VERY few. As in, we wont see any 😛

EDIT: Woot! 1400 posts :Q

I love how every time there is a thread for a new AGP card someone craps on it, and says "well you should get a PCI-E system"...

like we don't KNOW about PCI-E, and the option of building a new system. Maybe, just MAYBE, the idea has been considered and rejected...
or maybe we are just too damned lazy to do another mobo swap OS install, and troubleshoot a new system.

Just a thought....

all AGP'ers need is for this gainward model to show up and see how the other 7800GS prices go from here. should be a nice upgrade (last AGP upgrade) for most people here for 2006 pre-holidays.

Finally someone who sees the true importance of this card.

I also have seen this and it looks like an interesting upgrade from a x800xtpe. it would prolong the life of board nicely. But with Windows Vista coming out and DX 10 I'm wondering it if going the PCI E route just seems more attractive. Hope this card makes it to the US/Canada market and not a limited edition, I would still grab it.

This card is a Limited Edition, it was debated at length in the Video forum a week ago. As of now, its only going to be released in Europe, and ts 485 Euro price tag makes it around 450 USD. Hardly an attractive upgrade option. Still, it'd be nice to see it in the states too, as another option.
