World's Biggest Railway Model

Text

Mini Wonderland Hamburg's warehouse district is home to one of the world's largest model railway tracks. Every half hour, day turns to night in this miniature world. This is one of the biggest mock-up railways of the world. Over 450 railway carriages with more than 7000 trailers, 50000 trees, 30000 figures, 10000 cars, 5000 meters of track, 3000 houses and plenty of bridges.

<sigh> and I still haven't been able to get around to building the table to set my son's track up on...

I just tossed a 4x8 train table a few months back, too bad I didn't know and you don't live closer.

Between this and trying to feed him nuts you are really aiming for Father of the Year, eh? 😛

Very nicely done...LOTS of detail...

In 2000, I worked on a project just outside Lodi, CA where the company was building a McMansion for the owner of a local trucking company. The house was impressive enough, (~25000 sq.ft.) but the "estate" had a small railroad that ran all around the perimiter, with crossing arms anywhere a road crossed the tracks, bridges/trestles where it crossed over part of the lake on the property, and a VERY nicely done roundhouse. Not sure what the "gauge" of the thing was, (IIRC, the tracks were about 18" apart) but it was large enough to sit in to drive the train, and hauled passengers...very cool.

Hey, I'm taking him to see Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tonight...that's gotta make up for something, right? 😛

i worked on warhammer 40K tyranid and space marine models.

oh... the memories~ shi_ dude, I swear, the table top game is so bad as hell, it would be hella awesome to have a space marine battle fighting aliens. if someone could program a War40K video with starcraft gameplay on terrain equal to this, I'd pay a hundred dollars for the game, assuming there were more maps and updates from the developers/publishers.

bookmarked~
