I'm not sure but it seems you are going into the "I told you so" gloat mode in advance of.. well anything. Is there concern about war? Yes, absolutely, so make provision if you think you will see flares on the horizon.

I'd like to know who we're going to make this World War againt as well. We going to shoot an Archduke or will we nuke China? Heck just saying stupid things could trigger someone and a cascade result.

If there is a full out nuclear war no amount of preparing is going to help. And if you move out into the boonies to hide there will be millions and millions of others who will do the same and they kill you and eat you no matter how many guns you have. Then there is the Nuclear fall out.

Unless you believe that a nuclear war will cause the extinction of our species then there are going to be survivors. Fallout would be a fatal problem for some, but with clever preparation one can survive until the unprepared die out. Roaming band of raiders likewise, but again being prepared, intelligent and resourceful would be key.

Realize I was addressing Dave here, who said without any qualification that we WILL have WWIII. In light of that certainty I am suggesting that he and anyone else who have that same feeling of unavoidable doom can mitigate and survive.

I call bullshit on the premise, but damn we're already dead it seems. Don't buy into that.

I find it hard to believe that it's possible to "get much less resistance" since there was virtually no resistance to the Russian invasion the first time.

I will repost what I posted in the Tillerson thread, but here's the script for WW3:

Here's my completely wacky "I hope it isn't true" theory of Trumpian foreign policy. Feel free to correct me or debate:

1. Cornerstone of US foreign policy under Trump hinges on energy availability and stability. Central to that is maintaining access to fossil fuels.

2. Instability in the middle East and OPEC creates uncertainty in oil prices. Trump doesn't care if prices are steadily rising over time, but spikes and dips are not helpful to goals of increasing output/GDP and putting homegrown fossil reserves online.

3. Trump doesn't give a rat's ass whether our allies share common values on freedom of speech or human rights. He wants to create an alliance that can be the "new new world order" in terms of maintaining peace in the mid East, ending OPEC, and standing up to China. Trump's ideal economic/military alliance would be the US, Russia, Israel, Turkey, India and Saudi Arabia. Trump thinks wheeling and dealing can get these strange bedfellows together to do a few things:
A) Destroy ISIS, end all tribal insurrection, and remove Iranian influence in the middle East (end Iran, end Hamas, depose Assad etc.) Allying with Russia means they no longer need the Iranians/Assads and we can engage in wholesale regime change with various puppet dictators building a strong state but allied with our interests. Added benefit is ending the Sunni/Shia issue, containing extremism with a return to strong police states of old (new puppet Qadaffis, Mubaraks etc.) and possibly resolving the Israeli/Palestinian conflict (Israel may just become collateral damage in whatever war is waged to gain control.)
B) Divide up all oil, mineral and natural resources in the Mid East between US/Israeli, Saudi, Turk, Russian and Indian control. Saudis get the peninsula, India gets Pakistan, Russia gets Afghanistan, Turkey gets all the Kurdish lands, so on and so forth.
C) Replace NATO with a military alliance including Russia (and aforementioned countries) to oppose and contain China and N Korea.
D) Eventually, the UK, EU, Brazil etc. would fall in line with the New World Order because what choice would they have?

Not sure what excuse will be used to start "World War 3" but I'm certain this will be the first world war that doesn't include Europe... They will sit this one out and either watch in horror as it unfolds, powerless to do anything, or else participate as a supplier and profit a la the Swiss in WWII.
