I would honestly say in this day and age whoever shoots first would win if it was full blowen war.

Im from New Zealand btw.

I would say a single counrty the US would be the most powerful force. But in a war without nukes I think after a hugely long war the US would fall to Britain because of the commonwealth which means that the Queen can call all 30 + commonwealth countys to britains aid of which there are prolly 8 or so military strong countrys these days 5 nuclear off the top of my head.

I respect your opinion, but if we're talking strictly the U.S. versus the U.K. and Commonwealth, the U.K. is going to get stomped, and stomped hard. The Brits are the closest in terms of technological (important) and training (much more important), but even summoning all of the Commonwealth - which is effectively what, Australia and NZ? - they don't have a snowball's chance in hell.

but yeah ether way in this day and age i really think a full on war between 2 western countrys would get nailed pretty quick, I mean if somebody was gutsy/completly stupid enough to invade US soil - Half the planet would have forces across the ocean in a matter of weeks to help or vice versa the world has come together to much to revert to letting countrys alone to fight it out these days imo.

Size maybe, but I'm sure the US is at the top in capability in naval and airforce capability. It's more than just sheer numbers.

I think that the US would win against this invasion...I guess the US could 'win' in pummeling the other countries...but I don't think that the US would be capable of invading and conquering the countries.

Navy-I call BS. No way the British navy is even close to ours. I'll bet the Russian navy is 2nd largest to the US. I bet that our Atlantic or Pacific fleet alone is close to the size of the RN.
Airforce-Well, if you like those old Migs from the pre-Vietnam era, I guess China's is larger.....but what chance would they have against the USAF?? None.
Nukes-who cares, and this scenario leaves them out.

As for the scenario, I dont think anybody or any joint force unless everybody ganged up on the US could invade US soil successfully. America is just so out of the way for anybody to mass a fleet/army logistics would be horrible. The only bad thing would be america would end up defending multiple fronts which i think wouldnt be to much of an issue.
The only way would be if there was a civil war in the US and a sea state let troops in heh

I seriously Doubt at all that the US will fall any time soon. The Entire world combined, could not take down the US. US has enough WMD to nuke every single nation completely 10 times over and more. Not only that, but each us soldier has about a 1:25 kill ratio, so they would have to have one hell of alot of men to take down us troops, with the advanced technology. The US wont fall like other empires either. The US is by far the most Stable, secure place to live in the world. No where else in the world is there a grocery store in almost every neighborhood.

And the kid that said we are less of a boss then in 1945. All i can say is lmao. The us has well over 100 times the nukes then, ALOT better economy, and no country will piss us off because we will take them down. iraq is an example. No other country has so much resources that after it destroys a nation, it rebuilds it for them. The USA also supplies more then 95% of the soldiers for UN. add that to the fact that we also have better tanks, missles, and the F22 rapter is decades beyond any other fighter out there. USA also has many nuclear subs patrolling the oceans as we speak, in less then 30 minutes, the us could have all of asia flat and radioactive. And then come the aircraft carriers. They could have continous strikes on any nation non stop for months.

Dude thats a bit of a underestimate of the rest of the world, in NZ we have grocery stores / malls nearly every K prolly closer and easier than the US as we dont have retarded amounts of traffic and large roads, also we dont have to worry about being shot stabbed or raped on the way there... And yes the US has by far the most WMD's but if they launched on other counrtys it would take long for the other 17 nuclear countrys to all fire back at the US, you couldnt them all b4 retalliation.

Basically what dguy says is true. We have technology that is much more advanced than any other country. The M1A2's are, for all intents and purposes, indestructable; shooting down our planes would be difficult since we have the most advanced AWACS system in the world.

However, as to whether we could conquer any appreciable amount of land in Western Europe? Not a chance in hell. We're not that powerful, and you need troops on ground to do something like that. As we can see from Iraq, ground troops are universally vulnerable once you step out of a tank.
