So...

Its been nearly seven years since 9/11 and still no new World Trade Center.

I find it interesting nobody talks about rebuilding it anymore.

I guess it never will.

Will it? Of course not ? the people in charge of that have guaranteed that something different will stand there. I think it should have been rebuilt, with some improvements, and I do not support whatever new building they place there, but neither is it my call to make.

It won't be rebuilt as it was, but they are doing construction on the site to put something new up instead of leaving it as a hole in the ground.

What? The new WTC is under construction now. They are not replacing it with the twin towers again if thats what your asking. Instead they are replacing it with a whole bunch of other buildings with the iconic tower soaring 1,776ft.

Um, really?

7 WTC is finished. 150 Greenwich St is under construction. Freedom Tower's building core and foundation are just about complete and construction should be visible above ground very soon. Oh and I think they broke ground on 175 Greenwich this month.

In other news, New Orleans is no longer under water.

They need something truly representative of America. That would be an ideal site for a Walmart

One of the myths of 911 was that Bin Laden was per say attacking the USA. What Bin Laden was attacking was the symbol of the world trade center because it had policies he and many others perceived to be anti-Muslim. And those twin soaring towers were a visible symbol and would be a target where ever they were located. And in fact other groups had targeted the world trade center before.

So in MHO, erecting a memorial on the former site may be a good idea, but having a future world trade center building as a central and visible symbol is not a good idea. Because it only invites future attacks.

No, the buildings are martyrs, and a fancy place for the president to walk on and spew rhetoric.

since people can make large $ off the project, they are milking it for all they can

it is basically a retirement project for some elite group of people , no need to finish it when they can just suck money off the deal for many many many years

Maybe it's taking forever because Giuliani is building his tomb there.

I gotta say -- I wouldn't argue with a Wal Mart in the city. It could use it. :p

Except for the fact that the sooner new properties are constructed there, the sooner it becomes a source of income again.....

So you'd rather it remain a hole in the ground?

Perhaps we should all live and work in bunkers, because if anything is left standing, it will remain a target for terrorists.

Better question we should be asking ourselves as Americans is when are we going to stand and demand the truth about 9/11?
