World Shutdown Day

It is obvious that people would find life extremely difficult without computers, maybe even impossible. If they disappeared for just one day, would we be able to cope?

Be a part of one of the biggest global experiments ever to take place on the internet. The idea behind the experiment is to find out how many people can go without a computer for one whole day, and what will happen if we all participate!

Shutdown your computer on this day and find out! Can you survive for 24 hours without your computer?

There has been "world jump day", "world hug day" and now this?

my computer is my job...so no I cannot on a weekday. However since the 24th is a weekend, and i'll have my car by then its very likely that I won't be on my PC at all that day 🙂

As a network admin, I'd have to take a vacation day.

EDIT: Well, if it's Saturday, I probably could go without my computer. But why subject myself to that sort of punishment?? Madness, I tell you.

I'll be at home, and my friends (who already had their Spring Break) will not. Thus there will be nothing to do. I could I suppose, and just read a book, but honestly there's not really any point IMO.

I'll be out launching model rockets and getting ready to move to Santa Barbara so I will probably participate, even before I knew about it.

i survive every vacation i go on w/out a computer, so I think I could handle this 1 day.

but i'm not going to, since there is no point to do it.

The 24th eh... Maybe I should up my time table. With everyone shutting down their electronic devices, completely lost without technology my minons and I should have no problem talking over the world. 😀

i could theoretically survive a day, a regular ol' day.... even a week of that type of day
sadly, I have a major paper I have to finish and turn in today. so no go on this event for me. otherwise, it'd be cake.

to truly test of the strength of someone's will though, tell them no modern electronic devices (tv, computer, video game console/portable, mp3 player) for a day. that oughta reck someones day. 🙂
i could do it though. sadly I have no books on hand though, so it would be harder than if I had a book. but I do have a few things to read, and would likely use that time (granted no class on said day either), simply scribbling down more ideas to expand upon a story I already wrote.
i also have like 4 or 5 pieces of paper filled with ideas from when I worked at the movie theater over the spring/summer. standing at post tearing tickets is one of the most sanity-challenging tasks there could be, and thus it gave me a lot of time to scribble notes down on the backs of the movie schedule sheets. hated it when I was distracted by co-workers and theater customers those moments when I had good ideas to write down too. lol

While we're at it, boycott gas stations on that same day!!

I'll wait for Dave to set that one up. 😉

In the meanwhile, I think I'll prefer "World jumpoff a bridge day"

*hint*Some start a website on it now and spam the internet with it.*hint*
I'm quite sure there will be thousands of participants.
