World of Warcraft thread with a twist... (slight drama)

I decided not to play World of Warcraft anymore. I won't go into the whys because they're really not important (not enough challenge, to tell it in a short story). Since I was in an up-and-coming guild and I was worried about them (I was primary priest at the time, level 56, holy / disc spec'ed), I told the guildleader I'd let him use the account so they could still raid effectively and what not.

Well he made the priest an officer in the guild, gave the password t the officers, and they all chipped in and bought six months of play time. They also changed the password and e-mail addres... without telling me. Needless to say when I tried to pop in to say hi and noticed the password was changed, I didn't really think much of it, but I tried to change it back to what it had been and was met with failure. I called my former guildleader and asked him what's up - the officers decided to change that info.

Not part of the deal!! I didn't give the account away, I didn't sell it, what I did was allow them to use it indefinitely. Some might argue, "Why do you care, since you don't play anymore and you don't want to play anymore?" Simple, I'm still the guy who paid for the account. I let people use my car, it doesn't mean they can put 6 months of gas in it and they own the thing! 🙁

So I talk to them about this and they have no plans to release the account login information back into me. Now I've e-mailed Blizzard and I'm going to retake possession of the account, and if worse comes to worse I'll see the account banned before I allow someone else to own my priest... I guess I'm only posting because I feel some guilt about them losing their however much money 6 months of WOW costs...

Have I done the right thing here?...

No, actually I didn't, since they were... less than polite... in the way they told me they would be keeping the account. I don't take kindly to someone overstepping their boundaries and waving their e-penii around, and I'm more than happy to put someone in their place on the Internet, and in person.

I would call and see if you can have them change it for you since the account is still in your name.

Then log back in, tell them to fvck off, join some other guild, and start playing again just to spite them.

NERD FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cast magic missile before they can.

edit: sorry for neffing...just the first thing to pop in my head, but yeah, i agree with what you did in contacting blizzard.

you decided not to play any more, they payed for 6 months of play, they own the account for those 6 months.

However, they did not put in the hours required to create a level 56 character -- and they do not own the account. They prepaid for the use of the account..but they did not actually purchase it.

I think you'd do best to let this go.

I can only imagine you wasting a whole bunch of time in a pursuit that won't work in your favor. I say just buy a new copy of the game or be done with it.

since they're being pricks about it (and since you never gave the account away), do whatever is neccessary to get your account back / screw them.

Fire an arrow with a magic missile enchantment on it from a longbow. At close range, there's no way you can duck out of the way. 😉

Even if they're wearing boots of escaping?

Glad you've given up on WoW crack, but you have every right to keep the acct. and use it as you please, anytime until infinity. Those guys who changed your acct. info are jackasses. Get that acct. back with whatever means.

power word shield, shadow word pain, and smite away.

if i wasn't going to play anymore, i'd let them keep it for the time being as long as they would return control of the account if you wanted to get back into the game.

f--- that sh!t man, leveling a priest is a pain in the ass. and if they are going to be an ass to you, tell blizzard you're accounts been hijacked, and you allowed your guild the benefit of the doubt which they abused. Have your account CD-Key ready and prepare to pwn your former guild.

honestly, that would piss me off and i would retake the acount just to spite them. All they had to do was "hey welcome back! the pass is "x"" but instead they were rude and impolite, i say screw em. The account is YOURS. Get it back.

ps you're a sub-60 priest and not shadow? 🙁

even if you are going to quit the game btw : just quit it, who cares about your guild. It's YOUR account.

which is why it is theirs for 6 months, after their payed period is over, its his again. it is his character, but as they payed for the six months, they have the right to say who does and does not get to play what they payed for.

edit: that said, i do not agree with what they are doing, if it were me i'd let the person who gave me access to the account play it, but i do believe that they have a right to say what becomes of the money they spent on it.

How you can even get into a situation like this is beyond me. Are people that rude/selfish/assholish/jerkish nowadays that they do sh!t like this?

It confuses me when you say you "stopped playing" -- were you still planning to pay a monthly fee, or were you just expecting it to be babysat and upgraded while you do something else and get it back later?

I took a ~2week vacation from WoW, and I fell so behind my pals... it wasnt fun anymore.
Was going to quit next month, then i met some real life ppl who play, and now I have started a new character with them (they all <20lv). And I now love playing again. 🙂

..but I miss the hardness of my horde unforsaken buddies. They dont like ANYBODY

Ramble, ramble, ramble on... I didnt even read all the orginal post, Too long, But i still posted. Funny thing is, someone will read it. zZzzZzzZZZzzzz
