Blizzard Announces World of Warcraft Final Stress Test - Helcon on 11/01/04
In preparation for the upcoming free open beta test, Blizzard will be conducting a final stress test for World of Warcraft. Starting today, November 1, at 1:00 PM PST, players who would like to get a sneak peek of the game prior to the free open beta test will be able to visit FilePlanet, sign up for the final stress test, download the game client, and begin playing. In addition to helping us further test World of Warcraft's server infrastructure under heavy loads, final stress test participants will automatically have their free open beta test slots reserved, and their account and characters will transfer over to the free open beta test seamlessly! Please note that a subscription to FilePlanet is required in order to join the final stress test. For those who wish to wait until the free open beta starts to join in, we will be releasing information about signups for that in the week ahead. The exact duration of the final stress test has not yet been determined; however, the free open beta test will begin shortly after the final stress test is brought to a close. --NOTE TO CLOSED BETA TESTERS--
World of Warcraft closed beta test participants are already qualified to enter the final stress test. The final stress test client is NOW available for download by testers at WorldofWarcraft.com. Please note that your account and characters are still available and ready to continue where they left off! Also note that the client that you download will NOT be noticeably different from the last version of the beta that you played. In the days ahead, we will provide a patch that will update everyone's game client with the features, such as Paladin and Hunter talents and racial traits for all races, that you've been waiting for.

open beta in another 5-7 days

i have been waiting forever and dropping the $10 or so to play early is more than worth it to me

Man what a bunch of ass monkeys...first they us damn fileplanet...I dont want to pay, but Im obviously going to have to if I want to play, even if I get it on bittorrent.

Then I find out that I have to pay 15 bucks for a quarterly sub....it sucks, but again, I do it. Sign up with my cc, and the browser gives me an error on the last page...I get a confirmation email, but I still cant figure out how to dl the file.

Figure I'll just cancel that, and tried paying with paypal...this time it went completely through...but for the life of me, I STILL cant figure out where to get the file!

Then I find out that they hide away a 8 dollar monthly sub in my search for the file...thanks for telling me that before...and I STILL CANT DL the file!

And to top it all off, the support pages are down...anyone know the phone # for fileplanet?

There's a half dozen threads on WoW about the broken FP signup, I think they'll have something fixed up pretty soon...

Im the meantime, I would start downloading using the Bittorrent client.

no way i'm paying 15.90 for a quarter of their crappy service surprisingly they don't offer this on the signup page

also it is not working for me either

FilePlanet sucks

they are probably raking it several hundred thousand dollars or maybe even millions right now they should at least put up some working servers

Can someone confirm if your open beta toons will be transferred to final product or no?

Will I get to keep my characters from the open beta?
We are still formulating our plans for the characters from the open beta and will provide more information in the near future.

Hmmm, well, its simple, they transfer, I cancel EQ2, they don't, I get both games

Yea, it's doubtful except maybe your characters will be carried over but only playable on a "test" server.

That might happen but stuff from beta will not go into the live game.

Good luck on the people paying 8-15 dollars for just 5-7 days of extra game day and while you doing it just remember... Fileplanet owns your soul then
