with this new card the graphics are distorted... shapes are flickering, the ground is flickering different colors, and im seeing a bunch of purple dots x_x

anyone have any advice on what i can do to fix this? from what i've read in these forums this rig should work great with wow .... but unfortunately its not! please help!

What was your previous vid card? Did you completely remove your previous vid card drivers? You may need a utility to remove more than happens when you run Add/Remove Programs.

Do get similar corruption in other games or just wow? Have you installed the newest video drivers?

I have run WoW with both a 9700pro and an X800XL, so I think the hardware/driver combo should work fine.

I would suggest getting the latest drivers and seeing if they help.

I have noticed that my X800XL has frequent VPU recovery problems with WoW, so I may also need to try new drivers. After I have a VPU Recovery, the game will flicker a bit, and sometimes lines will flash across the screen at odd angles.

I don't have heat problems, but as I said, I haven't tried new drivers. That may be something similar to what is happening in your case.

Oh yeah, one other thing: sometimes the testures on angled rooftops, sheds, or tents won't align quite right with the surface, and will flicker a bit as I walk around.

My 9700pro didn't have any of these problems, so it could just be an issue with the X800 and my drivers.

Anyhow, the game should work for you, so keep the faith and explore the driver situation.

Good luck!

Dumb question, but did you install your motherboard drivers and ATI's latest drivers?

i seem to be having a problem with ati's latest driver.... it installs fine... but i get prompts every time i try to access control center

CLI.exe - Application Error

The application failed to inialize properly (0xc0000135). Click on ok to terminate app.....

That game has huge graphics issues! My set up in the sig can't play it without the player running in slow mo but my dell 2.8Ghz w/x300 plays it fine. Poor directx programming.

I think you have to install the latest version of .net or the java runtime for the ATI control panel.

I had a fun thing happening where I installed my AIW software but didnt get one of those installed. Every time I logged into windows it would spike CPU useage to 100% and make it impossible to do anything. Luckily I managed to kill the CLI.exe process and I fixed the issue.

Talk about a joke of a driver + CP.

Hm I can run WoW just fine at maxed out settings on all 3 of my systems, it's not very graphically intensive. This might just be a bad 9800 Pro if it does this on any other games.

Typically, flickering textures are a problem with the game and not your card. What you describe sounds more like a game incompatibility, not necessarily your card having been physically damaged. Then again it usually happens on all cards if it's the game's problem. Probably just an incompatibility, that is, if all your other games are fine.
