So on Thursday I get a call from a women saying she was a manager at WFG and she wants me to come down for an interview. She said it wasn't I.T. So I was thinking it was a sales recruiter. I don't mind trying a stab at a commissioned sales job, so I figured it was worth a shot. She told me to bring a resume with at least 5 professional references.
Come Friday, everyone's hair was on fire around the house and forgot my printed paper with my references. I figured I could write them down if they needed it that day.
When I showed up, there were 5 people in shirt and tie walking with me to the office.
Not looking good. My scam alert was at condition yellow.
They introduced me to a hiring manager and they had some sort of mingling party where they had me talk to all these people but not really saying anything really specific except I had to be opened minded for what was going to take place.
Scam meter was pushing towards condition orange.
I figured they will break out finger foods and something to drink, so I stuck around.
They usher us in to a presentation. Sure enough, multi-level marketing scheme.
So I go to this interview after the presentation and they ask for my references and a $100 for a background check.
Umm, no.
I walk out. Later that day I googled them and learned they don't need references in a normal sense, they use them to try and get more people in.
Damn them.
Damn them for lying to me, and damn them for trying to use people's professional references.
Cliffs:
-Lady called about job interview.
-Turns out to be a Multi Level Marketing scheme.
-Lady asks for a 100 dollars for a background check and to use my references for a new batch of recruits.
