Are you watching the World Cup? I have only OTA, but most games are on, though a few only in Spanish, which doesn't bother me that much... I can see what's going on.

Some thoughts:

The Uruguay/Portugal game yesterday was amazing (I had to root for Uruguay, considering how great their two goals were).

People were raving about Ronaldo's hat trick in Portugal's group stage draw with Spain, but I thought what he did was very pedestrian (except for the free kick he nailed) compared to the first goal by Diego Costa of Spain in that game, which was stupendous (much better than Ronaldo's free kick, actually).

Messi's goal was just masterful.

Who do you like, what teams, players, your thoughts.

BTW, I just looked up FIFA. If you've ever wondered, it stands for this:

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association.

Just came up with it. Took about 2 seconds though, so it's hard to believe that I'm the first person to ever use it, especially considering how often falling down and crying like a little girl works and decides matches.

Edit: I just googled it and there was not a single hit for that exact phrase, so I'm officially calling it mine.

Can't wait for the game this coming Sunday, July 15th. ;)

France beating favorite Belgium, then Croatia beating favorite England.

Fun fact. Besides being Italian im also half croatian. My chance visit to the Motherland (and associated vibes) is 90% of what is making croatia win.

No seriously WHAT LUCK, we have a team barely good enough to qualify but somehow we are in the final ..

Wish i was in Croatia now instead of in Septemeber. Bet there is one hell of a party and excitement going on.

I'm thrilled by this World Cup. Come on, are you missing this drama???? :eek:

Cinderella Croatia have willed themselves to the final. Amazing game yesterday sending England packing (without the Cup!).

You are watching baseball??? Doh!!!

Final Sunday, not to be missed unless you are brain dead or have a good excuse.

Meaning what? Is there another about the World Cup? I didn't see any when I started this thread... mine precedes that one. Oh, and England fell on their face, in case you didn't notice.

Edit: I did some searching when I OPed this and didn't seen anything on the WC.

The biggest laugh is when they fall theatrically, cry out and grab the wrong leg that was never touched by the shoe of the competitor...

In my domain, WC stands for "Who Cares" not World cup. At least I had the decency to spell it out in my title. My search skill could use improvement, but that's true of everyone on the dang planet.

Nor did the USA, which is what made me surmise that Americans just aren't paying attention, along with the non-response to this thread (I wasn't aware of the "official" WC thread (which I did look for and failed to find when I started this thread).

Alot of those really do hurt, though, I think the great majority of the time they really are in pain. You have to have a high tolerance for pain to play soccer on that level.
