Are you watching the World Cup? I have only OTA, but most games are on, though a few only in Spanish, which doesn't bother me that much... I can see what's going on.

Some thoughts:

The Uruguay/Portugal game yesterday was amazing (I had to root for Uruguay, considering how great their two goals were).

People were raving about Ronaldo's hat trick in Portugal's group stage draw with Spain, but I thought what he did was very pedestrian (except for the free kick he nailed) compared to the first goal by Diego Costa of Spain in that game, which was stupendous (much better than Ronaldo's free kick, actually).

Messi's goal was just masterful.

Who do you like, what teams, players, your thoughts.

BTW, I just looked up FIFA. If you've ever wondered, it stands for this:

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association.

Just came up with it. Took about 2 seconds though, so it's hard to believe that I'm the first person to ever use it, especially considering how often falling down and crying like a little girl works and decides matches.

Edit: I just googled it and there was not a single hit for that exact phrase, so I'm officially calling it mine.

Fun fact. Besides being Italian im also half croatian. My chance visit to the Motherland (and associated vibes) is 90% of what is making croatia win.

The biggest laugh is when they fall theatrically, cry out and grab the wrong leg that was never touched by the shoe of the competitor...

In my domain, WC stands for "Who Cares" not World cup. At least I had the decency to spell it out in my title. My search skill could use improvement, but that's true of everyone on the dang planet.

Nor did the USA, which is what made me surmise that Americans just aren't paying attention, along with the non-response to this thread (I wasn't aware of the "official" WC thread (which I did look for and failed to find when I started this thread).

Alot of those really do hurt, though, I think the great majority of the time they really are in pain. You have to have a high tolerance for pain to play soccer on that level.
