Alcohol will not now be sold at Qatar's World Cup stadiums now in a late U-turn from organisers two days before the tournament kicks off.

The ban on alcohol consumption seemed to apply only to fans attending games. Beer and other drinks, including an official FIFA Champagne and an array of sommelier-selected wines, will still be available in stadium luxury suites reserved for FIFA officials and other wealthy guests.

i wonder if fifa will refund Budweiser the 75$ million it paid to be official sponsor (lol, yeah right))
 
This going to by far be the worst world cup.

It will be a shit show when thousands of tourists get arrested and a diplomatic nightmare for countries getting their citizens out after this is over.

FIFA thought they were in control but now are about to find out the even the most corrupt sport sanctioning organization has nothing on an middle eastern authoritarian regime.
 
I wouldn't be too excited to visit any of those repressive little Arab countries.

Frankly Dubai is the only one of them that really has anything uniquely worth seeing anyway and nearly ALL of that is man-made which IMO is hardly worth flying to the other side of the world for. (ie: Burj Khalifa)

If I want to see tall/fancy buildings and snobby a$$wipe rich people I'll just hit Manhattan for a day-trip, then go on vacation someplace else where they don't routinely crap all over human rights.

They are "Hotels" for tourists, more like a concentration camp.

Qatar as a country is much to small to host an event like the world cup, I imagine all the national team/staff members, media, foreign dignitaries, and wealthy persons would be able to get an actual hotel room, and everyone else put in those "Fan Zones".

Honestly its a powder keg waiting to go off.
 
imagine if a town of around 20,000 people were awarded the Super Bowl , it's kinda like that along with massive bribery and a culture at odds with the majority of the people going to see it

Yeah, I just didn't expect Fyre Fest or whatever it was called to happen again, and certainly not at this scale at the largest event in the world.

So since they don't have the capacity to deal with housing people, and certainly, probably, not policing them with their backwards anti-human nonsense, I hope all the fans just say fuck it and start fucking each other and everyone in mass public orgies, forcing Qatar to try and put everyone in prison.

You'd have to pay me to go to that region of the world. All expenses, and I wouldn't start considering it til you got to double+ what I usually get paid. If you expect me to actually work there, it would take 4*+ my pay rate.
