How long does this thing take to do a WU?? Lapppy has been working on it since a little after 9pm last night and is only 26% done:Q

Would a P4 do better than an AMD??

They say its scaled for a week per wu but that faster machines may do them faster (read on the website somewhere)

I am not sure on p-4 vs amd though

Mike

Your task execution progress will seem to increase rather slowly. We are tuning work units so that they take an average of about a week of wall clock time to complete. However, if you have a very fast computer it might finish much sooner. It might finish sooner or later depending on the difficulty of folding that particular protein. And, of course it also depends on how long you leave your computer on. After you finish a work unit, the agent will return the results to the server and get a new work unit to process. At this point you will get points added to your ID and to the team you are in.

Why doesn't my member page update results immediately when I upload them?
The points on the Member Homepage only periodically. The points on the Teams web page update every 24 hours. When checking on your points, please keep these delays in mind.

So whose gonna be the 1st to do it in a day? 😉

I had a WU that only took about 14 hours.

I switched it over from the lappy to the P4. It took almost 5 days to complete 1 WU on Lappy:Q

Hopefully the P4 will do it a little faster

We seem to be doing fairly OK with this project. I've had it running 24/7 on 2 computers here at the office with no problems whatsoever. We just need to get a few more machines up and running so that we can maintin our top 50 spot! 🙂

I have it running on a 2.8b intel... but it might suffer a bit if I cant get my video issue worked out.

Strangest thing, I can't run the ati 9700 pro on my 3.2 prescott as it developed artifacts... but so far since I installed it in the 2.8 no artifacts.I sent in for an rma but now I wonder if I did right?
It says on atis site that

If it happens during post and you get banding etc in windows you should rma.

But why in the sam 😛 would the ah heck work in theirs?(my girls computer)
Crazy

Woohoo, I'm #2. This brings back memories of S@H where I was #1 for a long time...well...until the people with more than 10 machines at their disposal stepped in and crushed me, and then my company folded and my "fleet" dropped to 3 machines. 😉

I must have a multiple personality disorder. I'm Binky here, AVG in S@H, and Pooh-Bah in WCG. I should lay off the booze!

Hey Assimilator - good to see you on the new DC team.

time to resurrect this thread since its the only thread that has to do with this project on the forums. Anyone else care to join us? we are currently rank 50 as a team, and I think we are about to lose it. We could definitely use a few more machines on this project.
Points Generated (Rank) 332,220 (#50)

Anyone planning on posting daily stats on WCGA like the other projects? I find the home stats page not nearly as good as many on this forum can make them.

well, looks like I finally got first place in the team.. on the day I add 3 more machines of course 🙂
anybody want to try and pass me? we could use some more activity in the project.. it runs very well, and the service install is pretty easy to setup also 🙂
Just trying to resurrect this thread to possibly get some ppl to join the project and give me some competition 🙂

BTW, the TeAm is no longer in the top 100 even.. lets team up!!!!!

just added 3 2500+ semprons to the cause.. I am up to 15 machines on this project now. Anyone else gonna join in? the client is very stable and even auto updates. service installs work great. no problems. stats are updating every 4 hours now. Lets get some interest in this ppl!!!

So I need some information here. I have never heard of this project, but have heard of UD, even ran it for a while. Is it the same thing? And how many folding projects are there now? F@H, Predictor@Home, FaD, and UD. And this too? Does anyone know if they all work the same, are they looking at different things? What makes them different other than the client and group behind it? Thanks

If you are trying to get people to join, you may also ask the mod to put the project up in the welcome thread. I see UD, but not WCG. Just an idea...

I heard someone mention this on the radio the other day, but have been unable to research it up to this point as I cannot use Google until I do a full re-install of Windows on my machine... long story. Isn't the WCG going to be basically a client that can be used for different projects?
