So you can get a special cable and migrate saved data and things you purchased on live to another 360. I think I understand that. So just a few simple questions that confusing to me.

1) Do you have to get another xbox live account to play games with each other privately? Or is there some kind of lan gaming you can setup.
2) What happens to the previous 360 you migrated from and can you still use xbox live on it?
3) Can all 360s use the same live account?

Just trying to make sue I don't screw up my account. Thanks in advance.

You'll want to setup a local or Silver Live account to play games with each other privately. That would only be good for games that don't require you to be online with Live to play though. I can't remember off the top of my head which games those are.

All 360s can use the same Live account. Just not at the same time. You'd have to either
1) move the hard drive from one 360 to the other (what I do)
2) get a memory card and store your Live profile and game saves there (what I did for my son)
3) restore your Live account each time you move to a different console (a 5-10 minute process)

Thanks, I guess that makes a little more sense. But what you seem to be implying is that it's likely that I'll need two or thee gold accounts to play against each other for some (or many) games.

You've got it... and it SUCKS.

I love XBL, but they desperately need some kind of family or household account.

Ugg. That does kind of suck. Remind me to send a letter to microsoft to suggest a household account, I'll just tell them I can't see the value in paying for accounts that will be hardly ever used. I would be happy to get some kind of household account for the right price though. I'm sure if enough people speak up about it something may come of it.

Thanks queasy, that helps a bunch. I guess if I want to play downloadable content I'll just keep all of that on one hard drive and just move it around if I want to play on another 360.

If you're playing on Xbox Live, yes. If you're playing via "System Link" (LAN multiplayer), you don't need a gold account. You'll also need two copies of the game - so if you have someone who is bringing their copy of CoD 4 to your house to play online multiplayer together, and that person has an Xbox Live Gold account, they can use their account on your second 360.

They did make it a pain to use the same XBL account on multiple 360s though. You have to either carry your profile on a memory card (retardedly expensive for the amount they hold) or "recover" your account on the second 360 then "recover" it again when you get back to your 360. I believe Microsoft recommends against using this method to take your profile with you, but I don't know why.

Amen. They need to get a household account thing going. Why do I need to get another gold account for my girlfriend when all she wants to do is play guitar hero every once in a while? She hates that she has to play on my account, since I have the gold account, but she refuses to pay for another account when we already have a gold account at the house.

They should figure out a way to tie the Live account to the console, and not the gamertag. Maybe have it tied to the console with one main account, which would be allowed to purchase marketplace content and renew memberships, but then have sub accounts that are only able to play online and that have purchasing restrictions.
