I never really work this kind of job on a Saturday before but it totally kicks ass. I work for a small software company doing tech support while I got to school. I had to come in today to do some stuff for a customer. I usually here people griping about coming in on the weekend but I like it. No one is bugging me and it is nice and quite ^_^ I suppose the extra cheese helps too, but still :p I <3 Saturday work

Working on saturdays is fun. Very little work to do, so I get to do what I want for most of the day.

It's good and bad... good in that it's more quiet but bad in the fact that you're working. On a Saturday.

Unless I have work to do, screw that. I'll be cycling up and down the Fairfax County Parkway in this weather.

But to each his own.

I am working right not... I mean it sucks working on Saturday, but it guarantees getting off work by happy hour time all next week :) No extra cheese for me tho :(

I like working on saturdays (doing it right now) less work, more time to watch/do whatever I want. But the flip side is that all of my friends went out last time and I was unable to do so

don't forget to make them think the work took you all day.
efficient and accurate work is only rewarded with a higher workload ;)

That's great while you're in school and get paid for Saturdays, but once you have a real job on salary your opinion will likely change.

You would hate working on a saturday if you had to come in at 7am and work till 7pm. And this was EVERY saturday, not just when you need to work on something.

I got some surprise work this morning at 4am. I hate being on-call, especially over the weekend.

My company is back to 12 hour days (M-F), 8 hours on Saturday and 6 hours on Sunday (yes, 7 days per week). It is agonizing! :(:(:(

I hope you're compensated well. I don't think I could handle that, for any amount of money, for more than a few months or at the very most a year.

It's been on and off since I've been there (nearly 16 years). Always 10 hour days + 6 on Saturday and then bam...12 hours/8 Sat/6 Sun. A few times, it has went to unlimited (as much as you could work) for 7 days a week. Yes, I'm on salary but I do get paid overtime. Really though, it can become very tiring. I worked over 1,450 hours of OT in 2005 including the last 6 weeks with an average of 106 hours per week.

FTW. There's gonna be me and one other person in the plant tonight. I think I may bring my laptop.

Edit: Oh, and since my overnight shift considers it "Sunday", I get double-time.

it's relaxed, but the fact you're eating up your weekend is not cool. If you had no plans it's ok. As an intern last summer, some of my coworkers went in on saturday. The only benefit was free lunch and it was a good lunch. Well usually they worked like 10 - 2 or something on Sat, so yeah, not TOO bad.

That's my secret :) Everyone thinks I'm a workaholic martyr for working Sat. nights, but it's like a 3 day weekend because I have light work today, then get Sun and Mon off!

I don't mind it once in awhile.

I'm working tomorrow -- it means I miss a Warcraft raid, but my choice was either won an extra shift Sunday night or work overnights for a week (one of our overnight guys is on vacation... it was either I cover his shift, or another guy does but I work the other guy's Sunday shift). I'll probably go in, fix some stuff that the weekend guys fracked up, and spend the rest of the shift watching movies on netflix.

I go in just for the hell of it because I get time and a half. Nothing wrong with making an extra $300-$400 a week.
