New design

While we work on content, we'd like to finalize the general page design. This is likely our final, though it may take a few tweaks here and there. Would appreciate any thoughts you might have, good, bad, or neutral.

Thanks.

the top right corner is a bit crowded, you might want to spread the menu items across the top, move the "curious about or logo?" link to somewhere else, or get rid of the extraneous boxes to the lower left of the menu.

I'm not a web designer or anything, but here are my thoughts:
* as mentioned already, center it for those with > 800x600 resolution.
* What's with the two little squares (one grey, one brown) near the top right?
* I'm not a fan of the "WWW.CJSDESIGN.COM" on the left side and the "NAVIGATION MENU" on the right.
* The font of the menu is a bit too small.
* The home button is pretty separated from everything else and not immediately obvious as a button.

All of the above is just my opinion as a bored ATOTer. It has a good look to it overall.

I disagree with most things above. The banner and "template" in general look ok to me, with the exception that I'd take out the phi curiosity part - that belongs in about us I think. Home may seem out of place to some, but home links in the upper left are sort of the de facto standard.

It's the content area that is lacking something. Maybe it's just the fact that black text on gray looks unprofessional to me, but I think it's more. The font and/or size just seems a little off. Also, don't use blue headers, they look too much like they ought to be links.

When I first arrived at the site I was impressed. But once I started clicking links I was somewhat unimpressed. I think another point is just the way the actual content is formatted. It basically makes me think that the company's specialty is graphic design and not web design, because the graphics are quite good, but the html content not so much.

i can see how you want "www.cjdesign.com" to kinda box in with "NAVIGATION MENU", or at least thats my thoughts on why you put it there, but I think if you got rid of the WWW, the Nav menu would be find on its own. For some reason the WWW doesn't look right floating there.

*Maybe instead of doing a vertical gradient on the left hand gray bar do a horizontal?
*All the copyright stuff at the bottom is well done. Clean and crisp, they way i like the bottom to look.
*Maybe change the main header, CJS desing/IT just doesn't do it for me. Personally I woudn't use a / in a main eye catching header, doesn't look professional IMO.
*What is up with the color of the vertical rectangle directly to the left of the "NAVIGATION MENU"? It's color doesn't match the rest of the site.
*I am also assuming that you guys just threw together some html and didnt look at the font just to get the site up. The font doesn't do it for me. Like what was said earlier, your graphics design is awesome but the html coding isn't so hot. Recommend going with Georgia font, it goes with everything :) j/k it might or might not work with your color scheme.
*Photo layouts looks good though, crisp and not overly cluttered.

Thanks for the thoughts. One thing is that the content is still in development, the basic design has been the focus.

The text in the main section has to go through some changes for me to be happy with it. Gotta split things up a bit with a couple tables. I would like to clean things up by taking that "curious about our logo" link out and revamping the "navigation" so that it is more visible and intuitive.

The phi thing was from my business partner. He seemed jazzed about it so I said "woohoo" and he ran with it.
