it looks... very industrial with that font.
also, you could try having the background all maroon with the white strip, white text and then turn the floral thing vertical over the entire invatation in a corresponding orange underneath the text. or make the white space a bit shorter and have the floral go over the stripes and into the orange background.

Change that damn font!!!!
You don't need something fancy, just not that. Egads.
Besides that, it looks good considering your options. Well, then again....does it have to be dominated by orange and maroon? How about white or black with color accents?

I agree with what has been said so far. The font is too industrial. And against the bright orange, it does look like something for a college game.
I dont really know you or your soon to be bride, but you want to try and match the look and feel to the couple/event. Right now it doesnt look very formal. Weddings are usually fancy/formal affairs, so if your's is not, then you might be on the right track. But if your looking for something classier, I'd loose the bright orange background and try and work with white a bit more.
For your font, maybe try and put everything but the names in a Serif font and the names in a sans serif font? Century Gothic is popular with wedding invites, you could look into using that with the text and perhaps using a scrpit font on the names.

It just doesn't look wedding-like at all. If you're going for a casual feel then I guess it'd be okay, but replace that fancy leaf pattern with something that matches the rest. Or, if you want a formal look, scrap the rest and go for something more in line with the leaf pattern. Right now it just seems like a random birthday party invitation (with some pretty annoying colors IMO) plus a fancy leaf pattern to make it seem like it's more formal than it actually is.

Despite what some have stated, there's nothing wrong with the colors that your wife has chosen. I think maroon and orange can work rather well together (and I'm guessing there is significance to it). But you need to think outside the box. Like others have said, it looks like an invitation to a college game and not very elegant.

Here is my take on it:

Red should be a darker shade (burgundy), not the slasher movie blood shade you have.

Font is too technical; you need something more elegant.

Oh Lord.

That color scheme hurts my eyes. Are you sure that you definitely have to use those two colors? I would try and talk your wife out of it if at all possible. However, if you MUST use those two colors, try different shades of each. It doesn't have to be typical red and typical orange. Secondly, as everyone has pretty much said, that font is way too industrial/technical. If you want to use a nice, sans-serif typeface, there are other, better options.

Really the second one is better than the first, however, those colors might be able to be used as a accent on the page a little more,

but here is the big question

WHAT DOES YOU TWO THINK? if it is what you want then it is fine, if it isn't then keep working.

im happy when she is happy. and right now she is undecided about a lot. so i continue to play with it until she is.

The first revision looks like the wedding should be held in some dingy bar in East Berlin, 30 years ago 🙂

Your fonts are way too big. White space is your friend.

I'm not crazy about the orange border. I think your color are still too bright. I'd go with darker shades. The orange is just so strong it's taking the attention away from the other aspects of the invite. That and it doesn't really make any sense as to why there is a thick orange border (other than to just use the color orange).
