I go to class from 10am till 4pm and then usually work from 5pm till 11pm or 12 am. I am a cashier or "checker" at Winco groceries, its a pretty good job, benefits and nice people.

I make $7.63 an hour.

What did you do while you went to school for money, odd jobs, work full time, collect pop cans? :)

Sat around in a computer lab for ~12 hours per week. It was an engineering lab so everyone who used it was already competent with computers, so I could just use the time to do my homework ;)

Internship. I won't brag too much, but it pays better than a cashier job (which I used to have too) and it doesn't req. dealing w/ customers.

I got lucky, interned in cs with nice boss who allowed me to have a really flexible schedule, to the point where I didn't show up at all for three weeks at the end of semester due to all assignments and finals crap.

I worked on campus for 2 years at $10/hr max 12hrs/week, which wasn't enough for more than misc expenses. Had a 16month long internship between 3rd and 4th years, thanks to which I'm already debt free (graduating in May) :)

Work full-time at a grocery store as a shift manager. I also do freelance computer and photography jobs on the side, which contribute probably 10 more hours/week. Currently a full-time student (Junior status) at NDSU. Hope to get an internship this upcoming summer where I will work there 5 days a week and maintain working at the grocery store on the weekends as well as keeping up with photography and computer jobs.

I co-op'd for a few semesters. Helped with the tuition, among other things. Apart from that, I've made websites for people on campus and worked as a TA every now and then.

Worked as an EMT for the school. 7pm-7am shifts. Sometimes I got really good sleep there...other times I've gone to class the next day on 20 minutes of sleep. Last call I had while I worked I had a baby seizuring in my arms at 3am...talk about a messed up night.

I also patrolled the campus for rapist/public pissers when I wasn't doing it myself or working the EMT job.

Dude, get a grading job. Best job ever. I'll explain

I am currently working as a grader for 2 different departments so that I can get twice the pay. Generally I grade exams and homework. I work for the astronomy department and the physics department. Here's the details for each

Physics dept.
- $2000 stipend per semester (they dole it out every 2 weeks) no matter how many hours I work
- Homework assignments take maybe an hour or two every week, sometimes only once every two weeks
- Exams can take awhile, usually 5-6 hours. The professor I work for buys us pizza and drinks though, and the students who just don't try are good for a laugh (Earth has a greater radial orbit than Jupiter??? The rock falls into the sky when dropped off a cliff???)
- Another professor that I worked for last semester did no homework and the tests were multiple choice, taking at most an hour to grade and record

Astronomy Dept.
- $6.50 per hour, considerably less pay than Physics but the hours can build up fast. You record your own hours, so it's the honors system
- Scantron tests are easy but sitll take time, since the department wants a bunch of statistics. Still, this requires almost no brainpower
- Participation homeworks = don't care about response, give them 1 point if they turned in anything. This is the bulk of all assignments.

The best thing about grading is that you can do it almost anywhere while doing almost anything. I did the Best Buy 2-night wait for the PS3 and got all of my grading done while sitting around. Usually I flip on the television and grade that way. Furthermore, grading a subject that you're familiar with is a good way to keep your mind sharp, especially in my major (physics). I would highly recommend it.

I'm one semester from graduating with my BS and have been grading for a year and a half and absolutely love it. That's probably a good thing since I'll be doing a lot of it during grad school. Also, I live in Tucson, where cost of living is VERY VERY LOW. $2000 is 6 months of rent and utilities if you have one room mate in a 2-bedroom apartment to split the costs. The astronomy job adds a little extra income and bought me a TV :)

You could always do student loans until you find a steady job, you don't have to pay anything until you graduate and the rates are very low.

I also worked as an IT for $8/hour, that job sucked balls. I love computers, but no one should ever want to do tech support for a living. If you've never done tech support before and think you're interested in it, try it out for a few months and realize how much you hate fixing computers for stupid people.

I technically have never really been a full time student, my average number of credits every semester is between 12-14.

As for work, I currently am (this i smy last week) doing security at a bingo hall, yes a bingo hall. Quite possibly the easiest job ever, but gets pretty damn boring after a while which is why Im quitting. In school during the day till 3pm, then worked from 5pm - 11pm 2-3 nights a week at $10/hr.

I will hopefully be getting another job from a friend at that bingo place in his office during the day at also $10/hr, working when I have free time so I can now have my nights free. Wil lalso be working wednesday nights at the same bingo place but behind the counter at $10/hr cash.

I worked various odd jobs while I was in college:

First, scholarships, by and large, paid my way. Full tuition for four years and first year's expenses was completely covered by scholarships. In addition, part of grad school was covered by scholarships as well ($4,000 out of $15,000 tuition).

Second, I worked as an RA/CA (Resident Assistant/Community Adviser) for four years and three summers. I hated it by the end, but I met a lot of interesting people, developed some unique skill sets, and saved myself four years of room and board costs (and all it cost me was my social life and several potential girlfriends!).

Third, I did research in mathematics for over a year. It was interesting, but it taught me that abstract mathematics wasn't my forte.

Fourth, I worked at a startup company for three months. My first introduction to a horrible manager and a prime example of how not to run a company.

Fifth, I interned for a summer at a Big 4 accounting firm (where I'm now employed full time). I loved it, and I learned a lot.

Looking back, I would have worked during the summers (even if it meant taking an extra year of school). You learn so much by working full-time in different jobs, and you expand your skill sets in unique ways, that I can think of few reasons why you shouldn't work over the summers.

Full-time at my college is 12 units, so you'd at least be full-time here :p

I was a cashier/stocking clerk at a local grocery store. Monday through Friday went like this:

Wake up at 6:30am
Drive 45minutes, class starts at 8am
Class over at 3pm, drive 45 minutes home
Clock in at work at 4:30pm
Get off work at 12:30am
Get home at 1am, and crash
Rinse, repeat.

It wasn't fun, left almost zero time to study.

I was the webmaster for our student council making $13/hour. I pretty much made my own hours and could skip out on work whenever I needed. I think I stopped going to work for a 2 month period during my third year in school.

It was probably the best job that I could have gotten as a student.

I currently work 20-25 hours a week at the Geek Squad and make about $11.50 / hr. I like the job, even though it is working with customers all day, I am a people person I guess, and that is what people tell me where I work. They wanted me to sell PC's, and I told the "Hell No!"

I am also living at home, so my tuition is only the base, which 6625/yr. I should really be paying off my loans, because I could do it, but I am buying some cool stuff instead, like a 22" LCD Computer screen and a 2003 VW Passat :p

I never take more than 4 classes, all my other friends at my school and other schools are always taking around 6. I guess 4 classes is full time :)
