Working College Students - which do you like more, your classes, or your job?

notfred

Also, if you could post your major and what kind of work you do, that would be cool.

I like my job more than my classes right now, I'm a comp sci major worknig in web development.

comp sci major working as a valet

i find all this math incredibly boring and useless

the programming classes are okay though

Just to clarify, did you mean students that are working while taking classes? I only work during the summer and I much prefer that to going to class. Making money, buying upgrades for my computer, actually having money to spend on other things. What do I get for class? Nothing, immediately, although I get the feeling I'll be thankful for completing eventually. I'm a Computer Engineer and over the summer I work as a Systems Administrator at a local bank.

Food Science major with a minor in CS. Work at an Information desk in the computer labs. Sometimes I like classes, other days I like work.

depends on the class

solid state electronics i find pretty interesting though its rough

i luv philosophy soo many hotties 🙂 and the teacher is hysterical

i am starting my job tomorrow tutoring $17 / hr cant be bad 😀 and i dont work a lot < 10 hrs a week

actually i dont dislike any of my classes its just the workload that drives me nutz

Computer engineer...work is way better...get to sit around...get paid...actually acomplish something...there was a programming class where I was devoting 20 hours a week to the programs...if Iwas at work wasting that time programming it'd be fun...it'd be a good way to pass a day...problem solve, and get paid...but since I was wasting my free time, time I could have been doing other things on classwork it really made me mad. I also hate homework assignments that are pointless and studying for tests that test how well you remember specific details than whether you understand something. At work theres a point...you're working towards a goal and getting paid...at school you sit and take in mindless crap you'll never use again...for example covariant and contravariant return and argument types...who the hell cares? As long as you can use the language and understand how the language works...

Computer Engineering at Iowa State University.

I work for RuffaloCody as a Java developer.

I'd say that I learn about five times as much at work than I do in all my other classes combined, get something accomplished, and it's more fun.

i'm a CS major and i currently work at a crackhouse i affectionately refer to as hell.

does that answer your question?

Poli-sci major

I'm a T.A., so class IS my job, and I enjoy both equally.... As long as the classes are polisci classes and NOT business or core or anything retarded like that. 😉

I'm studying Software Engineering Managment, and working as a Software Engineer.

Prefer my job more than classes at the mo

Comp Sci. Working as a programmer. I always enjoy my CS classes far more than I could ever enjoy work. The rest of my classes I could care less about though.

i'm a film/animation major, so hell yeah classes are better than work.

at work i just sit at a desk for four hours straight.

Computer Science student working in WAN support for a telecom company.

I definitely like it more than school. Most of my classes are programming and I'm more of a network guy.

I'm a Management student with a concentration in Information Systems. I also work full time as an NT/2000 network administrator. It's a fun job.

If you would have asked me when i was a Comp sci major, i would say work, without a doubt, but i have to say i REALLY like business classes, which scares me. I absolutely love my macroeconomics class and my accounting class, even though i hated them just a year ago. It seems as though i am destined to go into business.

overall, i love both equally.

🙂
