Im a college student using the campus connection that is firewalled. This has caused many inconveniences, such as inability to transfer files through IM to certain people. Nothing has been too bad, at least firewall concerned (though when the cut bandwidth in 2/3rds that caused a whole problem
) but i just recently purchased a domain name and a host. When i started trying to upload, i was able to use the file manager to upload small files but once i got to files 1mb or larger it wouln'dt upload. I have had this problem with every host i had tried but untill now havn't really had much need to upload over 1mb. So then i tried ftp, as i had at one time used it for one of my sites and it had worked for files over 1mb. It refused to connect when i tried, and so i asked some friends to try it and they can all connect (the aren't on campus). So i call tech support, and they say the firewall prevents ftping but didn't have anything to say about the 1mb limit on file manager uploads.
So my question is, can i get around the firewall? Is there anyway to set up the ftp to work around the firewall. Also does anyone know why i can't upload over 1mb through the file manager, cuz if i can get that working ill just use that and forget about ftp.
Thanks for any replies.
