Worked 1 day at Subway....

I just feel like it is a step below me. I thought it would be a cool place to work at, with good pay. But they started me at min. wage! but thats not the problem, its just that i feel its a step down from the previous jobs I've had(delivery boy,best buy,compusa). I was there for 4 hrs yesterday, and was making a sub just as good as them after like 2 hrs. Then if you're not making a sub you are filling up bottles with dressing. Its just not an exciting job like all the other jobs i had, where their was the ambition to improve on your work. The people there are nice, i think my judgement just might be toyed a lil bit, since i was out last nite real late, and feel like crap. Also, since i only worked there the 1st day, how do i go about getting my 4 hr paycheck?

*edit* I applied on tuesday, on thursday an employee called me back saying come into training tommorow(friday) from 3-7, and when i got there she told me how much it'd pay, and i immediately started making subs with the supervision of another employee. Since they werent couteous enough to at least tell me some details over the phone, i dont think they deserve the courtesy of me spending an extra 2 weeks suffering there, while im doing college full time.

Food service industry is very very simple as far as job goes, but it is also very tedious. Nothing but the same thing over and over again. It isn't for everyone.

If you do quit, I highly suggest talking to your manager about it. At least give him a 2 weeks notice.

If you got time to lean, you got time to clean!

Ya i should give a 2 week notice, but i think i'll just tell them i got a job elsewhere, that will pay higher than $5.75 an hr!

well, i was a delivery guy for a few restaurants, and i loved it, something new everyday, challenging too.

dont quit yet. you might end up liking it, but at least give the 2 weeks if you decide you dont want to work there anymore.

It all depends on who you work with. I worked at Subway for a year until I was 16. They payed generously and I partied with most who worked there. They also used to give us a footlong each shift free(many more taken as "dropped/burnt"). You know, they're the second largest fast-food chain in the world now. Though the work is mundane, the food is good.

Im gonna stick this in the top too. It is a fast food place where you make food, you clean up the mess, and restock your items. You then repeat the process.

How about this: You should've asked them questions before agreeing to go into training.

Don't fault Subway for you being too shy to ask questions.

no, it's not.

I couldn't imagine bothering to give two weeks notice at a fast food place. you've only been there one day; they're better off with you quitting today so they can hire someone new tomorrow.

edit: most states have "at will" employment laws, meaning they can fire you for any reason without notice and you can quit for any reason without notice.

if it were a real job, giving two weeks notice is the professional thing to do, but it's f'ing subway. and like I said, from their perspective, you're better off leaving today so that they can stop wasting time training you.

Giving two weeks is not mandatory. It is mandatory if you ever really want to work for said company ever again however.

Yeah, no kidding...I've totally found that in my own experiences with different jobs.

Two weeks notice is a courtesy in hourly jobs, not a requirement. Now with that aside, don't expect most hourly jobs to be that "exciting." Most salaried jobs require experience and/or education and you usually don't get those until your mid to late 20's.

I heard once, most people really don't get "Settled" in job and life until late 20's.....so don't expect everything handed to you until after then.

are you seriously only making $5.75? Becuase I applied at Subway earlier this week and they called me back yesterday and I'm going to be working there. They're paying me $7.50 with a .75 raise after 30 days.

Guess your subway just sucks.
