Work willing to pay for Security+ classes, worth it?

So I've been signing up for some classes to take during the year and one of the HR people asked if I'd want to be signed up for Security+ training too. Meh, not a big security guy, but me being an analyst in the IT field with many connections to Government job opportunities it may be beneficial to have. Would it be worth taking a week long trip just to take this thing?

as long as they're paying for everything, why not? If you have to pay your travel and expenses, probably not worth it.

Sure, if they'll pay for it, go for it. :) If you get a good teacher, you'll learn a bunch of stuff that isn't necessarily on the test.

But if HR is willing to pay for Security+, see if you can take a GIAC cert instead.

Isn't a GIAC boatloads more than Security+?

Regardless, take the training man. Any training is good training as long as it's free. I begged my company for training the 9+ years I worked there and ALWAYS had to get my stuff out of pocket.
