That is weird, call the accounting department

Don't use it at the ATM. Go through the line at the bank to cash it. Repeatedly ask what's taking so long for them to give you the money.

Well, I work in the payroll department at a company. Since you received pay, but it was all deducted as taxes (for whatever reason that was), you still have to get a statement of earnings. Depending on how complex your payroll system is, normally you'll get a deposit advice for that (what you'd get if you had direct deposit). But if its a simpler system I can see how they wouldn't want to go through that extra effort and would just cut you a zero check instead. So its perfectly normal, and in fact, if they didn't send those statements out it would cause more problems, as people who analyze their paychecks every month with fine-toothed combs end up calling up wondering where the extra taxes/gross came from since last months totals + this months pay != this months new totals.

Maybe that's your severance check 😱

I guess he must have been fired years ago, but was still getting paid until they "fixed the problem"...

right. Anyway, the OP should just count himself lucky the check didn't say:

"Gross earnings - $100
Federal taxes - $150
Social Security - $300
9/11 Tax - $50
We Hate You Because You Work Tax - $50
Air tax - $10

You owe us: $460"
