Work/school dilemma

Nocturnal

Lifer
I have class tomorrow, mid terms to be exact. And, an employee of mine can't come in on Tuesdays and Thursdays or so he says. Now, the fact of the matter is that he has been complaining that he hasn't been getting hours and we finally schedule him and now he tells me at the last moment that he can't work on these days.

What the heck would you do? Well of course certainly we aren't going to give the guy that many hours if at any, anymore.

But as far as school goes? There's no one in this company who would be nice enough to actually cover his shift tomrorow so I'm stuck missing out on mid terms while I'm making $15.00 an hour via overtime.

What would you do?

Obviously not in Nocturnal's case. His devotion to work and debt problem far outweigh his wasted payment on further education.

You're missing midterms? If I were to miss my midterms, I'd end up with a C at best, or at worst, fail the class! :Q

i would be like look midterms are more imporant than all that stuff, i mess that up cuz some bum could't tell you in advance. If u ahve too just take the midterms and go back, but dude the grades are more important than work and stuff, cuz u could get a btter job if u had awsome grades

many people have made it w/o their grades, it all depends what field you wanna go into.

a little more info on what your job is and what class is for would help. I personally don't believe you need school to be successful in life, but if your working at some crappy job that has no room for improvement then missing a midterm is a big deal. But on the other hand if you have a job where there is a lot of room to move up in and school isn't really needed (graphic design, network specialist, etc...), and that class happens to be art then yea its no big deal. but a little more info would help

Manager for a cell phone sales kiosk/store.

Don't skip school for work. Suppose you end up failing the class... you make x amount of dollars but wasted xx amount of dollars on the class. Or if you get a C... depending on how much your grades matter to you that might be the same thing as failing a class.

would take a midterm and miswork. At sales kiosk correct me im wrong but their is no position higher then manager. So u don't have a grou. Now u can change a job to another company and continue grow if its big enough but at this time unless u really need those money that u will miss if u don't go to work i would go and take the midterm.

Very true and thanks. I just found out that I will be able to take the test at an earlier time. I start work at 11 am and I will be able to take the test at 9 or 10 am. It'll take me about an hour to finish the test and then from there I will head straight to work where I will earn a lot of overtime.

Thanks.
