I don't have anything more to add... except that I find it uncanny how often you used the words "blew me off" when referring to your female supervisor working at BJ's.

I also wanted to say that it's your bosses job to take advantage of you. In reality, you are a low-paid grunt. They can replace you easily enough. They won't freak out about you quitting, so don't expect them to. Your boss is a dumbass, you know it, we know it, but she doesn't. Just get a new job and forget them. Some day you'll be working corporate IT or something and nobody will give a damn about when you worked retail...

Real quick though, will outright quitting damage any of my other future jobs or something. I dont want the rest of my job opportunities to go down hill because of this.

If you are a push-over for the rest of your life, it will damage your employment future.

seconded. No one is going to protect you in the future, learn to protect yourself. Honestly if you're that worried you don't even have to report that you ever worked there in the first place.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders so you have to be willing to stand up to her. Don't worry about your reputation too much right now...you're only 17 and there's room for a F'up or 2.
Most important is, if you don't take a stand now 20 years down the road she will be one of hundreds who have walked all over you. Don't let this happen. If the other mgrs like you as much as you say and, worst case scenario you get fired for taking a stand, one of the others would probably be happy to give you a reference.

Alright well i went in to talk to a manager and she wasn't there. So i talked to my GM. It was actually pretty informal, we talked on the front line. I asked about the week and he said that i ask off every holiday. I then said "No i have asked off for 2 holidays, 4th of July and Thanksgiving, and both were legitimate! But anyways, about this coming week..." So he told me that he needs to run a business and i said i understand that but im not going to be there. He told me to go and try to get people to take my hours (4 on Tuesday, 4 on Friday, 8 on Saturday). He said if i couldn't get anyone then we will find something, but he wasn't sure what we would do if that came about (He knows if i leave they lose a 2 year employee that can do any job (Supervisor, Cashier, Self Check, Bakery) and someone who will do anything he is asked).

As i said earlier my coworkers are awesome. I got every single hour covered next week! :) :)

As for my availability, he said that i should get with that Personnel Manager about it, but to turn in another Availability sheet. He also said, that if i am only available those 2 days that he is worried i wont get any hours some weeks. He said that if i were fine with that to put in for it and well make it happen. I told him that since i was still under 17 and didn't have a dire need (ie: to survive) a week here and there wouldn't hurt me. I thanked him and went off.

I ended up staying 2 hours tonight :p getting my shift scheduled and talking with some of my coworkers :)

After this if worse comes to worse i can at least put in my 2 weeks, and use up all my paid vacation time, and quit on good terms.

Thank You A LOT guys!! Just the mere fact that if i didn't do something this may happen all my life was enough for me to do it. My problem was that i have never blatantly argued a point with someone to that extent, and i felt guilty like i was causing problems. I dunno, its just my crazy mentality that sometimes would be better off going away, but yeah.

Oh i forgot to mention. On my availability sheet, (probably shouldn't have done this) but in the cells where you mark your hours, instead of putting a simple slash through it, i wrote in each one (excluding tuesday and friday) "NOT AVAILABLE" in caps. Nothing obnoxious but enough to catch her eye. Then at the top i put "Thanks :)" (smiley included).

Hey never thought i would have to update this again.

I swear right now i am so close to screaming. Not only that if i were to walk in there right now, i would probably end up blowing up when talking to that manager.

TWO schedule changes were put in. I put the second one in 3 days after the first one, JUST IN CASE, she didn't get the first one. And what kind of present do i get when i walk home!??!?!? "Kevin, you were supposed to work from 1:30 to 9:30 today. Where are you?".

I turned TWO in. You know what i have 3 copies sitting right here on my desk to prove it ASSHOLE!!! Im sick of having to take heat for that managers mistakes.

AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!

(Sorry for the language, i am just the pissed off),

There is no permanent "last post" - update the top thread or deal with your crappy schedule.

Just say that you aren't able to work that anymore, and they need to shape up.

If you are having problems with a manager.... you need to start looking for a new job. Usually, unless the manager is really bad and on their way out, other managers will not side with an employee over the manager. If you constantly bump heads with the same manager, s/he will FIND any excuse they can to either make you so miserable that you quit, or make you so miserable that you mis-behave so they can fire you, which will look bad for you.

Save yourself the agro and just find a new job. then when you quit, tell this manager's superior so it is on record why you left.

Or you could go to HR and file a harassment complaint.

Very true... but unless he was hired with certain scheduling agreements, they will most likely side with the manager. There would have to be documented proof that his scheduling requirements were okayed for him to not be asked to work on those days.

At least that is my experience from my management years.

I take it your car is working?

Yep :) .... it turned out the starter was bad. Now it starts just fine... thanks for the help btw!

Ok well this situation just got 100432943290x worse.

So i decided that i will be responsible and go in there and see if i can clear everything up.

I go in there and talk to my FLS and CSM (both of whom are really nice!!) and they said that it was just a mix up.

I turned around and my Assistant Manager calls me over. She asks where i was and i told her, and i said that i switched schedules with another employee. THe employee in question, she took off register because she thought he was working electronics. I said, no he isn't.

What does she do?? SHe goes and checks the schedule. Im thinking, ok well it doesn't hurt to check, but i would never lie. Then get this:

"Did you just fill these out?"

!?!!!!!!!!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!??!

tenatively, "No". In fact i turned it in a week ago to the Personnel manager. Then she said she didn't get it. So while i was out i got my parents to take my copy (shouldn't have to make copies) and give it to her. They said they got there and my friend took it, made a copy and put one in the Personnel Managers box, gave one to the CSM (who said he has it) and she said she put a few more in some boxes. She then found my parents gave them another copy "just in case".

Well i guess the personnel manager didn't get that one either, and no one else got the other ones, miraculously (and i trust this friend A LOT, she put it in there).

At any rate:
"Well which manager signed this?"

"She wasn't there at the time so i put it in her box"

"This is no good if it isn't signed"

"But i have 4 more copies floating around plus the one in my hand"

"Are you sure you didn't fill this out just now?"

!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!?

"Well ill go check the mailboxes and see if they are in there"

"Do you want me to stick around while you check, in case you need me"

"No"

And i walked off. I was so pissed off at that moment that i was ready to chew the next person out who talked to me. I have never, EVER, given them a reason to distrust me, nor will i ever. I have never missed a day of work, and in 2 years of employment i have been late (30mins) ONE TIME.

I dont know what to do anymore. Ill go to the GM and ask him what is going on. And then, i think i may consider turning in my 2 weeks. This is absurd!

-Kevin

Edit: If i am pissed off enough to hit someone, then im not in any real mood to update the post... ****** though, you guys always try to help me, so ill get some cliff notes up there for this post.
