Work or school?

Ask yourself:

If everything is working perfectly in either situation after 1 year, from which you would derive greater happiness?

If everything is going horribly wrong in either situation after 1 year, from which you would derive less misery?

VERY good questions.

As for my thinking: The economy suggests you take a job now if one is available and do part time school if possible. SAVE your fucking money. Dont piss it away. You may need it later. Live like a fucking pauper.

Work. Then, when you get laid off, you can apply for stimulus money and have them pay for your "retraining".

I say I would derive greater happiness in school, but when the the actual direct deposit comes in, I might think otherwise heh

If his entire tuition is paid for, the part time school can get fairly expensive, especially if the current job he's planning on isn't something he'll stick with.

Money isn't everything* and this decision will be a critical juncture for your future development.

Try to imagine a future where you continue on through the hierarchy at work and never finish your educational goals and a future where you are the poor erudite scholar. Then go from there.

*Pussy loves money though. Just sayin'.

At the very least, I think I will be covered to go a community college. Keep in mind, that the company will offer tuition reimbursement (the exact details, I don't know yet).

Once you have your bachelors, experience > education in most fields (excluding specialty fields like engineering, accounting, etc.) Without your bachelors experience > education only until you want to get promoted past a certain point. Then the lack of the little educational piece of paper will hold you back.

I would do school, but (don't take this personally) know that you aren't analyst/management consulting material.
