Work is sure nice, when lunch joints are nearby!

My office is right in the middle of a historic downtown (resort tourist place in the Smoky Mountains). Lots & lots of stuff here, none of which are chains. Everything from sandwich shops, upscale restaurants, antique 1950's type luch counter and soda fountains, British pub & Irish pub, hand made brick fired fancy pizza place and a bakery. I used to really like to eat at the tables outside on the sidewalks, etc

About a 1.5 milea aqway is a mall and a big intertstae exit - they've got all the fastfod stuff (McD, BK, Hardees, Pizza Hut, KFC, Sonic whatever) and more retsaurants, Outback Steakhouse and other big chain restaurants as well as more local stuff etc

I've got more stuff here, and closer, than when I worked in Manhatten.

Even so, I proly eat at these once a week. it gets expensive and I started gaining a lot of weight. Typically I'll have a health shake or pack a sandwich these days.

We've got Taco Bell, Two Chinese Restaurants, Kelly's Bar, Rock River Caffee, and a chocolate shop around the corner for dessert, so 5 restaurants plus a dessert shop 😛

did yu spell cafe wrong or did the cafe spell it wrong?

No lunch joints in walking distance here, but I work in a "industrial park"
The sad thing is the 2 closest resturants are both subways, in oposite directions(It's kind of like that Geroge Collin's joke about starbucks and the end of the universe)

I've been wroughing it lately, "combat field rations" for lunch, lol.

Fuddruckers
Quiznos
360 Burrito
La Salsa
Panera

But it's a long two block walk to those and I need to cross two long lights so I usually bring lunch or get it from the building cafe.

None... although with all the construction going on here... we do get a roach coach that stops by at lunch time for the construciton crews, does that count? 🙂

Other than that, and the vending machines, its a 5 minute drive south to Subway or a 5 minute drive north to Burger King.... all other restrurants are 10-15min drive away.

We used to have a cafeteria in house... but alas they got rid of it, even though it was packed everyday.

Old Town Pasadena. You count them.

Edit: my building has a cafeteria, the one across has one too. I don't even need to move to get food. A block away, there's Paseo Mall with a crap load of restaurants, a few blocks down is Old Town, where there's a crap load more restaurants.

I went to quizno's today, but that's a 5 minute drive.

Within 2 blocks, I have the following options:

Taco Bell
SubWay
Carls Jr.
In-n-Out
Del Taco
McD's

Too much fast food to be healthy, for sure. 🙂

That's nasty. Subway (and Quizno's) are the only places on your list I'd consider. Where I work there are countless non-chain places to eat lunch, thank goodness, though I admit to having patronized the local Subway establishment once or twice.

Nothing within walking distance. Maybe biking distance, but that'd be silly to drive to work and then bike to lunch.

Why would that be silly? Driving to work when you could bike to work, now that would be silly. 😀
