That's not universally true. My spouse is an EE at a large company and he gets bonuses equal to around 10% of his annual salary (two around Feb, one in July), plus stock options and a raise.
yeah definitely not true.
i work at a large software company, we get a 6% yearly bonus, stock options and an employee stock purchase program (that works like this, you take a 6 month period of the year, 10% of your gross pay goes in there out of your net pay thus if you make $1000 gross a month $100 of your net goes in there, and you can buy stock at 15% off of the lower price of the 2 ends of the 6 month period at the end of the period). so basically my salary is augmented by an additional 10-20% a year based on these benefits. and im an engineer as well.
from what i've heard other large companies have these stock purchase programs as well
