Work being done to unlock the venice multipler

Surprised no one posted this here by now, pretty hot thread over at xtremesystems forums.

Guy got a venice locked, pulled for awhile and when he put it back in multipler was unlocked. He has since stated he's tried it in a different board and its still unlocked. Everyone is creaming themselfs trying to figue out what happen exactly, for good reason. venice FX would be quiet nice

Strange thing happened...

I replace CPUs (4000+ sandy ==> 3000+ venice) and venice have unlocked multipliers to 25x. I tried another CPUs and clear CMOS, but venice is still unlocked. I think, that something was burned inside venice.
And my question is: How find what was happened with my venice? Is possible to unlock another CPU, if i will know whats happened in this event?

I have DFI NF4 Ultra-D, 2x512 RAM, 6800GT, 425W Enermax PSU

Well, it'd be nice to be able to run at high clocks without having to stress your motherboard... The guy has no idea what happened though, so dont expect much out of him.

Well for me atleast my dividers are causing me issues, 100/133 divider will not let me past 230ish fsb while 166 allows 270+ but by then my ram is causing me problems. So it would be nice to have a unlocked multipler to get a extra 2-300mhz out of my chip! Anyways thats a whole nother post heh.

Well for those without ultra expensive memory, there would be more overclocking options to get the best CPU & memory overclock possible.

yeah not for OCing its there so people dont have to use PC3200 RAM, they can still use PC2700/2100 without the CPU decreasing its clock because of the slower BUS, its ther to maintain the 200Mhz BUS ..

They are not really designed to work at frequencies over 200Mhz, unless its an enthusiast motherboard which is designed to do so, thats why people have problems using dividers at certain frequencies, unless its DFI of course

Umm. This is freaking WEIRD. When I got home today, my computer was dead. I left it on when I left for work and it was dead and would not power up when I got home.

Since the system would not even turn over, I got a new PSU. It didn't fix the problem. I got an identical replacement board from Microcenter (AOpen NF4 Ultra) and that solved my problem. System would start again! But when I would exit the BIOS and restart, it would just freeze. I would have to reset the CCMOS just to get back into the BIOS again.

When I went into the BIOS it had some weird letters by the CPU multiplier. So I tried to reload the BIOS from EEPROM. Finally the system was working and rebooting OK and I could boot into Windows.

BUT.....NOW MY VENICE 3200+ 0531 IS UNLOCKED!

Once side effect is that it appears CnQ does not work anymore. :-( I want my CnQ. Anyone want to trade me a nice CPU for this unlocked one?

I of course cannot guarantee anything but I will give you lots of pictures etc. Problem is I'm not sure how I unlocked this thing!

Umm, because having a 9 or less multiplier sucks?
I'd be jumping for joy if I could unlock my Venice and use a 10 or 11 multiplier, because my DFI NF4 Ultra tops out at 290HTT.

Better yet, doing a pin mod to unlock a Sempron 2500+, give it a 10 multi, then OC it to 2.6 :shocked:
