parched. My wife says it and it just irritates the hell out of me.

Oh I hate that one, too.

JUST SAY YOU'RE THIRSTY!!!

Same goes for "ill".

"I feel ill today."

You mean you're sick? Just say 'sick'. Much less pretentious.

Anyone said "like" yet?

I HATE that word with a passion. And the fact that I hate it pisses me off. It's a perfectly good word, but gen. Y and Z (or gen. "me") have ruined it for everyone.

People who overuse the word "like" (use the word 10x in one sentence) are usually mentally or socially retarded. Otherwise they lack the maturity necessary to speak in complete sentences.

This syndrome usually strikes those under 40, drug users and people fluent in Ebonic. :'(

edit: They also say things like "yeah" to express cheer eg. "Im like yeah". One fat 35 year old anglo women is seen using that exact phrase in a current car insurance commercial!

Refurbish.

This word sounds old fashioned. craigslist posters love using this word when selling used computers. The use of the word might be correct, but it still sounds awful. There was an ad last week offering a refurbished computer with all the bells and whistles. I almost puked.

*To rebuild or replenish with all new material; to restore to original (or better) working order and appearance. -from Wiktionary*

Seriously? 😕

Almost every tech retailers sells "refurbished" parts - cell phones, routers, monitors, PCs, printers, game consoles, etc.

I included the definition to point out that refurbishing something is not a bad thing, it's just that I think the word sounds old fashioned, therefore I hate it. This is an opinion thread, isn't it? 🙂

Anyway...I have bought refurbished items that seem to be customer returns that are inspected and returned to the shelf.

OK, I finally thought of one that actually does bug me.

Obsolete.

Gets said way too fucking often, and most people dont know what it means or how to use it correctly.
