words fail to describe what i just saw.

and it is awesome how everyone always refers to song storage to compare drive sizes lol

MIKE

i know...30,000 songs tells me nothing about it's size, it's measurement is based on the "average" song size...which could be anywhere from 1-10 MB.

no, but who has 30 grand to spend on songs? basically EVERYONE advertises that stealing songs is fine EXCEPT the RIAA.

MIKE

Huh? you can't spend 30 grand on music over say 10 years? 20 years? No one is saying that you should buy one of these and immediately fill it up with music. No one is saying you should steal. Also, allof mp3.com is much cheaper then $1 a song.

BTW that would mean a 60gb microdrive.

Yes, that's what it does mean, a 60GB microdrive....what's your point?
They are saying 10x current capacity, so from a 6GB microdrive at the moment, to 60GB.

Is it just me or are they making this new bit stacking technology sound like it's only useful in music storage devices? Won't desktop hard drives see advantage from this too?
Yes, but since we already have 400GB desktop drives, it's MORE of a thing for smaller drives, since they are limited (ie: 6GB), while desktops aren't such an issue, you can just buy more drives.

Can you guys say vaporware.

I think the point isn't so much the technology...rather, it's the presentation.

Personally, I can't figure out how exactly it's supposed to work. but ohwell.

That thing rules. I was sent it by a friend yesterday, and it's just awesome. It's stupid and cheesy, but you KNOW that's what they were going for. I love it an applaud Hitachi's very unconventional marketing tactics.
