Word2002 "markers" - how do I turn them off?

Hi all,

I've got these weird 90-degree marker things in the corners of my default Word2002 document (normal.dot) that I simply can't figure out how to turn off- does anyone know how to get rid of these?

rename normal.dot to something like normal.not. It will get replaced by a new one.

i don't believe they are printing things. isn't it a view setting? try changing your view to page layout

I renamed the Normal.dot template and the markers are still there.

Oh, and they only appear in Print Layout, no other view. They never used to be there! :-/

precisely, it's a a particular view setting. i believe there is a setting in view or print options or something, however you'll have to mine around. i can't seem to find it in word 2003

The marker is to indicate the margins (top, bottom, left, right), I believe. I don't think you can turn it off.

You probably have the "Text boundaries" setting checked in the View options. To turn this off first click on the "Tools" menu and select "Options..." then click on the "View" tab and look under the "Print and Web Layout options" section for a "Text boundaries" setting. Click the checkbox next to "Text boundaries" to turn this feature off.

They're there to mark the margins. Just switch to a view other than Print Layout, can't you?
