I there such a thing a hand held text scanner. It seems like someting i've heard of but i can't find it. Might be called a word wand. Does anyone have one or know where to find them?

yeah there are such things. they suck.

look it up yourself... to go pcworld or something like that... find the name of such devices, and then go to pricegrabber or pricewatch...
 
i really don't like those devices. but that's me. some others don't like them either ;-)

i'd rather take a laptop, a scanner (the thin ones) and scan away.

but i don't have either of those ;-)

those wand things are more like electronics highlighters. they hold a lot of text, but only text.
