This one hurts...

if you EVER take the heatsink off your CPU, unplug the machine!
My buddy just called... took the HS off, because he wanted to turn the fan around, and make a skirt.
baby starts crying, goes to check... meanwhile... the wife decides she wants to check her e-mail.
enough said.
it was just an old K6/2 machine he had, but it's no longer in working condition I'm told.
Will make me think twice anytime I have my HS off the CPU.
Thought I'd share my friends grief.

The good news, is he should be able to find a k6-2 pretty cheap, maybe even on the F/S Trade forum.

I will direct him here. He's not much into forums.
just boots up, checks e-mail, plays simple games (like solatare or minesweeper), sometimes goes to work, then goes to bed, and repeats daily.
I almost feel sorry for him. I have a K6/2 500 cpu that I was going to build another linux box with, but may give it to him.
that was his only pc, and i have 2 working. bah humbug!
