Word 97 not saving

I create a new document in Word 97 (Windows NT) and when I close that document I'm not asked if I want to save it. In other words, I don't get reminded that I haven't saved my changes. Where can I go to re-set Word so that it will prompt me to save any changes before closing?
 
Word is hard-coded to prompt for saves if there are changes. Check if you have a macro virus.
