Anyone know where to download a copy of word 2003 edition. I've looked through the MS sites and can only find the complete office package for that year which does no good for me.
 
I don't believe they had that version as a separate download, about the closest thing would be the word viewer link
 
Hmm, the computer I am restoring had a word 2003 CD Key stored in it, and I tried it in the full office 2003 just in case and that didn't work.
 
You likely need the OEM disks from whatever brand computer it is you're restoring to get that Office key to work. Does the hard-drive have a separate restore partition (assuming it's the original HD, or the original drive was cloned to the replacement)? If it does, the Office image will be on the drive.
 
I also recall a while back that some oems, (hp come to mind) had preloaded verisons of a MS works suite that had word 2003 as part of it. that could be why you are seeing a word 2003 key.

and they did have oem and stand alone retail version of it but not any official downloads for it.

as TastesLikeChicken mention, probably best bet if have access to recovery media that has the original word 2003 install files, or if have access to original drive, can look for the hidden msocache folder, that usually has the install files, but I have never tried to re-install from that
 
Did a bit more searching last night, found some OEM package sometimes referred to as "MS Works with Word" that seems to be where it was installed from. Have only found people selling copies, so may have to try some torrent searching for an iso as it doesn't seem it exist otherwise online given its limited availability.

You can do a Custom Install and tell the installer only to install Word without the other programs.

Unfortunately the only issue with that is it will not accept the key that he has, as the key he has is for only word but not the full office suite
 
Just crack the fucker. Installing 10 year old Microsoft OEM software the way M$ would like you to is an exercise in futility.
