Word 2003 and wmf

I am running into a problem when I insert a vector graphic into microsoft word, details of the vector graphic will start changing, such as the arrows and such will not be as sharp, text spacing becomes an issue (ie there will be spaces in word when there shouldnt be or if there was a space in the image, when imported into word the space goes away).

the strange thing is if i print the image from windows picture and fax viewer, the image looks perfectly fine.

so my assumption is microsoft word is using some type of filter/converter and hoses the thing up.

is there any way around this? i'm trying multiple formats, thinking it's a format issue and i can't get the thing to work. i'm pulling my hair trying to find a solution.

thanks for any help.

Edit the pic -> Ungroup problem areas -> Change how ever you like -> Group.

You may also want to use emf, i have better luck with that than wmf.
