WORD 2000 PRO CRASH HELP!!!!

Everytime I open Word 2000 Pro I get this error message:

Run-time error '-2147467259 (800004005)': Method 'PrivateProfileString' of object 'System' failed

I have tried repairing, re-installing overtop itself, and re-installing after using office clean. No luck. Does anybody have any ideas?

Sounds like there is a Visual Basic Macro running, probably embedded in "normal.dot"...

Try replacing that file on your harddisk, or if you can run Word 2000 long enough, disable macros...
Could it be that you had a macro virus infection? If so, try running an up-to-date virus scanner.
 
This will also happen when you install any updates for office while using XP, I've never once been able to update Office 2000 without it crashing every time I open it in XP.
