People seem to buy every crappy Woot! they put up, but I really have to scratch my head at why anyone would buy an 802.11b access point for even $15 shipped.

Actually, I thought it's not a bad idea to have a 802.11b on one channel and a 802.11g on a seperate channel to prevent the 802.11g from getting bogged down with slow clients. It's what I used to do at my folks place. My old 802.11b Tablet PC would work fine and wouldn't slow down my folks new budget 802.11g laptop.

For someone with a nice 802.11g setup who needs to support the odd 802.11b it's a great deal.

damn. its a WAP?! i looked quickly and thought it was wireless router. ah well. $15 wont break the bank for me

Well from everyone's description it just sounds like a WAP.

Woot is so slow today though that I can't get into it and confirm it. Wondering if all the 3rd party tracking is responsible (by exposing a performance issue that wouldn't normaly be there).

At least it will probably work better than those refurbed Netgear 802.11g routers that I got last month. The wireless crashes on those on almost a daily basis.

LOL

"Do you still buy ?backup? Hong Kong DVD releases of current theatrical movies? Are you fed up with the spotty quality and long download times of the latest torrents? Have the ushers at the local movieplex gotten better at spotting your bulky VHS camcorder, even when it?s hidden in that secret compartment in your pants?

Meet the Hitachi DVD Camcorder, aka ?the Bootlegger?s Friend.? This handy cam records directly to high-resolution DVD format, for a theater experience so real you?ll reflexively wipe the popcorn butter off of your fingers.?"

You gotta love it....
