Managment is funny 🙂
Back a few years, we had a store (I work for a national retailer that sells cellular, won't say which), and the company gets paid by the cellular carrier for each phone sold/activated. We get paid more for new activations than for upgrades. Back then, they couldn't track it, so we had a store where the manager basically told her people to ring everything (or a lot more) up as new activations rather than the upgrades they were, thus earning them more money and making her look better.
Eventually the cellular carrier caught up with it and she was fired. The rest of the employees (all of which were guilty to a certain degree of doing this) were told they would be left in the store, that she had taken the blame for them. This happened during the Christmas season, obviously the company didn't want to retrain a whole store.
Right after Christmas ended, they were all gone 🙂...I couldn't help but laugh a little bit that they actually believed they could basically commit fraud against the company and be left there. Then when the new team did an inventory and found like $60k of inventory just gone, I laughed even harder. Apparantly they knew they were going to be fired and had taken the opportunity to lighten the company's load a bit.
Cliffnotes:
1) Employees do something stupid.
2) Company says they won't be fired.
3) They were.
4) They stole.
