Sorry, OP but I just have to respond. 1680x1050 is NOT a low resolution and my games run about twice as fast now. My benchmark scores are up 90%. I plan on buying a 27" 1920x1080 Samsumg LED 120Htz monitor in the near future so I wanted to think ahead. I think I made the right choice.
I thought you said the cards were on lay away and that you did not even own them yet?

Trust me guys, if I had the cash to spend on a GTX 760 I would have gone that route. I mainly got this to enable me to play BF3 with a little higher settings. I honestly don't expect to be able to game on 3 monitors with this card but having the ability to use 3 will be nice.

Plus it will allow me to move my GTX 460 over to my wife's computer. She only plays WoW so it will suffice.
well whats the point in having all those other specs if you are not going to get a gpu of the same level?

Because I have a low resolution monitor.

Anyway, I got the card in Tuesday and moved my GTX 460 over to be a dedicated Physx card. WOW what an improvement. I allowed the GeForce Experience to optimize Battlefield 3 for Ultra settings and it runs amazing.

Granted it's at 1680x1050 but I don't care, I'm very pleased. :awe:

open box, is that like someone bought it, tried for the golden OC and returned it as incompatible?.../joke

I just bought an Open Box 7950,

Runs at 1200/1600 just fine right now without even trying. I set it to 1.23v and went here, nothing has failed/crashed in the last week and benchmarking. Been enjoying the new gaming experience rather than tinkering right yet.

Point is, we really don't know why it was opened.

They are. I'm sorry. I should have said my friend Scott. He also has the same monitor as me (we bought together 6 years ago) and he bought 2 of the same GTX 760s I'm getting. His pension is much higher than mine and was able to buy 2 from NCIX.com at once. He wanted to buy me my 760s and I'd pay him $150 a month but I don't feel right borrowing money from a friend. What if something happened and he couldn't get his money back?

I couldn't stand for that. He also has an i5 2500K but at 'only' 4.5GHz and his benchmarks scores have nearly doubled. He can finally play Crysis 3 with 4xAA smooth as butter as with my current 2 GTX 460 1GB SLI it's a slide-show even with just 2xAA.

I'll have mine in January, 2014. I can wait. My 2 GTX 460 1GB SLI overclocked to 827/1654/4100 will be alright 'till then.

He's getting a 27" 1920x1080 120Htz LED monitor next month. As form me, I will get 1 in February of 2014.

Sorry for the confusion.

I'm not sure where you're finding a HD 7870 for $144 AR.

As far as the triple monitor setup....ya, I figured I would really have to turn the settings down. More than likely I'll try it out once just to see how it is then revert back to playing on a single monitor.

was a 7950 on newegg yesterday for 158 AR

Should be about 30-40% faster..

Also MSI is top notch for RMA's and service Imo.

160/136 ~= 1.1767 or 17.67% faster

Is this card worth paying $30 more for versus a 7850 like this one:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161406

You can also use the V.me promo "VME10BTS" for an additional 10% off so that 7850 would be $126.

How does that HIS 7850 compare with the HIS 7770 GE that is $90 FS (no rebate). Both use a single 6-pin PCI-E power connector.

Is a 7850 worth $50 more? I noticed it has 256-bit GDDR5, instead of the 128-bit like the 7770 GE.

7770 is 3 levels lower on Tom's videocard hierachy. I'd pay the extra for the 7850.
