Well considering I don't have a phone book... what are those metal things? Did you buy them online or is it something you just found? Those look like they would work perfect for me.

It was basically two pairs of something like these
http://www.amazon.com/UNV54055...qid=1235169337&sr=8-17

Plus a layer of paper on top to keep the speakers from getting scratched.

I would not recommend using these though, they are not very stable for this use. I just used them since they were sitting in the office.

One day a co-worker leaned on the right speaker and the stand just buckled. They were kind of wobbly with just the speaker on it, so the added weight was no match for it.

The next day I brought phone books to use.

Nice, I have a set of Epos ELS-3 studio monitors as part of my home theater system, and they sound sweet.

Speaking of home theater, maybe they should move this topic there...

I fergot!

I got me one of these: Tascam Portastudio

and this because it's an awesome recording amp (but it's on backorder :( )

Tascam CD Trainer Amp

Plus I picked me up a new condenser mic last week at GC. I should have my studio set back up in a couple of weeks.

What mic did you pick up? Also, picks of said studio when finished. :D

On a side note, my next purchase are a pair of Rode NT-5 mics to be used primarily for my drum overheads. So damn expensive... but so nice. :p

This is the one I got. I've been using versions of Nadys for years, and this was a decent price. I like condensers because they do everything, so you don't need to spend a zillion on specialty mics to do some basic recording (they're espeically great with acoustics and singing).
